I'm not talkin bout the 2 AG horizontal lines. These are a bunch of vertical lines that are mostly in the middle of the screen. I notice it big time when I have notepad open or any other white/light color on my desktop. Can this be my GTS? I see em regardless of the refresh rate or resolution.

anyone else have this goin on?

Do they look just like the horizonal AG lines (wires)? If so, give the screen a sharp smack right where the lines are and they will go away. I'm not kidding.

Gave it a knuckle, but it didn't work, ouch :| they don't go all the way up the screen. they are a little thicker than the AG wires. RMA time?

I suggested that because after I moved my monitor at work, I had them but never did before. Gave them a good "knuckle", and they went away. Yours sounds like a different problem.

at which resolution is your desktop set ?

I have the 17 inch 700p plus and at 1152*864 and up i start to see the vertical lines of the dot mask(which is 0.25) Are those lines all over the place or in the edges?

i can see very, very fait lines with a white background, but i only see them if i try. i figure it's just the slats, or whatever they're called on AG moniters. these go full length though, and i noticed it first when they were all bunched together. hitting the side of the moniter fixed it, as i saw them spread out to equal distances might want to send off a letter to Samsung and ask?

Not the AG HORIZONTAL lines, he's talking about vertical lines. I seen a couple other posts about monitor doing this and I think smacking the monitor usually fixed it. Read pg. 25 in your manual and after trying the recommendations then see if it works.

I don't know about you...but I had one faint vertical line close to the center of the screen. I called samsung and they said its not supposed to be there. So I RMA'd it ...because I just felt that I spent way too much money on this thing and I didn't want anything wrong with it period. The weird thing is..that vertical line developed after I got it.....

Uh... he's talking about VERTICAL lines, not horizontal which are normal on Aperture Grille monitors.

I just smacked the side of the monitor(on both sides at the same time) and the lines went away Gee, i wonder if I should cancel that Sony G400 order I placed about an hour ago? I called buy.com and told em I want to RMA this 900NF for the G400, which is on back order till mid march. I figure I have a few weeks to see how this 900NF runs(only had it 10 days). If I have to smack it all the time, then its G400 time.

sd - you have the right idea - during shipping the monitor gets pushed around a lot and becomes misaligned - strangely enough you are SUPPOSED to smack the monitor if it has these vertical lines.

My Mitsu DiamondPlus 91 had the same thing. Gave it smack, went away. That was like the 3rd time physical violence solved my computer problems. I had to smack my CDROM drive once caus it got stuck installing Office 2000.

Well, I had to give it a smack again today to get rid of those faint vertical lines. Doesn't seem normal. Gonna RMA it.

Sony G400 is on its way. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a little luck on this monitor.

Your returning it for a Sony? A sony could be just as likely to have those. Besides it says in the 900NF manual on pg. 25 about it too.

eagle__2:

Let it go, if he wants the G400 so be it. You know people these days really like to RMA stuff because of some non-issues.

Whats that all about? I spent $460 on this thing, and you bet your ass I'm gonna be happy about it or I'm gonna send it back. Your gonna take it personal if I get a G400?

To reply to your PM... I wouldnt declare the monitor a defect in just 2 days of observation, plus there are many things you can try to get the faint lines out of the way permanently. If RMAing will make you feel better, go ahead. But why not just exchange it for the same model?

I made several adjustments when I first noticed the problem, none of which helped. Someone suggested that it needs a smack from the rigors of shipping. Hittin the thing actually worked, but I've had to hit it 3 times in 3 days. Maybe I'm paranoid but that doesn't seem normal.

As for the G400, I was always back and forth between the 2 and I figured I'd save a $100 with the 900NF. Now I'm sayin the hell with savin a $100, and I'm gonna try the G400. If I don't like it, I'll send it back and try another 900NF. I'm not slammin the 900NF. I've heard tons of good stuff about it, but the G400 also has had rave reviews.

As for RMA for non-issues, damn straight! These computer retailers make a killin off us, so if I wanna send back a monitor every other day till I get one I like, I will. And ya know what, they don't even care, b/c they want me to be happy so I'll come back and give em more of my hard earned money. Anyone that ignores a problem with something they bought b/c they don't want to RMA it, is a fool.

I'm not tryin to offend anyone, and maybe I'm just a picky SOB, but I have to be happy with my purchase.

What is it that keeps you from giving the 900NF another try? Is it that you lost confidence in Samsung? Or was the 900NF just a big POS besides having those faint lines?
