Faint VERTICAL lines in Samsung 900NF, normal?

Its not either of those. I was on the phone with buy.com and I asked about the G400. They told me it was on backorder till mid March, so I bought it. I figured I had plenty of time to research this problem with the 900NF and decide if I want a new 900NF or let the G400 ship when it comes in. That was Friday. Yesterday, I get an email sayin that the G400 has shipped. I track it and it'll be here tomorrow or Tuesday. Now I have no choice but to get it and check it out. I'll have the opportunity to do a side by side comparison, and if the G400 doesan't look $100 better then I'll send it back and get another 900NF.

If you read my earlier posts it might make sense, maybe.

Ok, that sounds very good, actually a very clever idea, thats if you dont mind shipping monitors around. Very well, I just hope you stay with Samsung, but that's your choice.

The good thing is that buy.com will send ya a pre-paid UPS label. The bad thing is I have to haul it there, but its only 5 miles away.

hey all,

sd, for the amount they overcharged you for that 900NF, the least they could do is send you a pre paid shipping label. (did they give ya kiss b4 bendin you over?)

Well it's kind of long in the manual about it all you got to do is open it up and look. Basically it says its caused by shipping and try hitting it. If not it says position an open white window and turn brightness and contrast up so it heats up and the lines should go away. Like I said, some monitors have it and need to be smacked some don't. Mine had no lines ever, maybe UPS knocked it around enough during shipping it already got smacked, eheh.

You'll be very pleased with the G400 I'm sure. Either one are very good monitors. Some just like it for the Sony name for quality or whatever.

I purchased the 900NF from Outpost.com for $470. When I got it the CD with the drivers on it was warped (heat?) and the monitor had very bad geometry problems (Yes, I know none of them are perfect but this thing was bowed at the bottom way too much.) so I sent it back for an exhange. Atleast it's overnight shipping. They also reimburse you the shipping cost. Hope I get a better one next time. =\

i ordered a sony G400 and to tell you the truth the geometry on it is terrible!!!!
so i RMA'ed it and got a new one...same PROBLEM
i dont no what thes epeople review these monitors on but the sony tubes are so off on geometry
half the screen is moving to the middle and the sides of the screen are moving inwards

so i ordered a samsung 900 NF and what a difference
slight geometry problem in right and left upper corner
noisy when starting up
but that is all this monitor is great
and about those vertical lines
you need to give it a hard smack a few times at the SAME time
oen smack should put them away for ever
well it did for me

Sounds like not only does your 900NF have a misalignment problem, but that black dot is likely a &quot;burnt pixel&quot;.

Absolutely nothing. In fact, it's probably the best of its class.

The G400 came today, and I must say that my early impressions of this monitor are very good. Better than the 900NF? I think so, but I don't want to say for sure. Image is very sharp and crisp.

A burnt Pixel??? I thought this only happened on LCD Screens? I'm still trying to figure out how a CRT can get a Burnt Pixel.
