Fake Arctic Silver

Just wanted to let everyone know that the small syringes of Arctic Silver that you see on auction sites like the one linked to below are FAKE.

We have never packaged Arctic Silver in these types of syringes or in any quantity smaller than 6.5 grams. (And since 6.5 grams is $14.00, there is no way 1.5 grams could be $2.00)

I realize my question may not be suitable for this post so I will make this comment first.

I just received my tube of Arctic Silver in the mail today from Nevin himself from The Cooling Store and I got it one week after I ordered it. Pretty good considering I am up in the Great White North eh.

Furthermore, if you find yourself interested in thermal paste, this by far is the most highly recommended I could find price/performance wise. Not sure, but there may be some NASA stuff out there for $150 or something but let's be realistic.

Ok now the question. I have a Golden Orb and from reading your instructions on applying the paste you say to use a flat downward motion so as not to create any air pockets. Well with the golden orb you have to use a twisting motion to set it in place. Do you think I will be ok doing the twist or should I just lap the base of it ensure a flat surface? Thanks!

To the rest of you, do yourself a favor and return the bottles or shovel your neighbors walk (Canadians), get a friend to pitch in, there is more than enough in one of these tubes to make a couple people happy and it's really not that expensive.

Answering HalfAsleep, if you have the supplies and know how to lp the orb, it can only do you good, since you pretty much have to twist the Gorb to get it installed right = )

I own Arctic Silver, and I think it was worth the money.. I have no idea if there was a temp drop but it was worth the peace of mind =). When you've got a $40 heatsink sitting on a $200 cpu, what's a few bucks to maximize the performance of both? Anyways.. in regard to the e bay auction, nowhere does it claim that it is actually Arctic Silver. I'm guessing some guy made his homebrew, and it's entirely possible that he came up with a "generic" but working version of the stuff...
