Fake GTX 960 4GB All Over Ebay - Warning

there's a bunch of fake 970's on there too, for like $42 or so. I should have kept the second ME card I had for sure but at least I still have the one, which dumb people are shelling out 2015 retail prices for at the moment. ridiculous. Id still like to find a reference 970 to add to my 1080p big picture computer but I'm not paying $200+ for one.

I've seen alot, and all of these cards people are getting advertised as 1080's and 960's etc all end up being GTS 450's, fermi. that have somehow been bios flashed to actually show up an incorrect ram amount and it actually says like "GTX 1080". little feckers.
Even when you're benchmarking, it shows up like 8gb ddr, even though there's only 1gb on the cards so you get an error when it exceeds the 1gb amount. I'm almost certain they're ALL GTS 450's

I only saw the fake 750ti in my travels, googling revealed it has been going on with that card at least for a few years. It seems like they take a 550ti, flash a modded bios so it reports the wrong thing and then stick an ugly aftermarket cooler over the top to hide what was really under it.

I couldn't make much sense of it because you could buy a real 750ti for $50 used at the time and they were selling these for no less than $40. It seemed like a lot of work so they must found a crate full of 550tis or something they want to unload.

As others have said though, the card probably works, it just doesn't perform that well. So I wouldn't be surprised if plenty of people were oblivious even after they installed it.

Who the redactedwould want to buy a gtx 960 these days anyways? Its an utter crap card and at only $40 doesn't even make sense that any gpu can be that cheap and not be the utter low tier garbage.

I don't know man, I'd happily buy 5 960s if they were truly going for $40 each. 960 is faster than the 1050 which is going for around $150 these days.

This news is just great.

Just a couple days ago I ordered a GTX 1080ti for $79.95, which is coming from China. I sure hope it doesn't turn out being a fake.

The price spread is interesting though.. those selling fakes at 60%+ might have better success..

I am sorry, it was funny .. It just carried the immediate afterthought that if they didnt sell the fake cards at "funny prizes" their sales would go up..
