Everytime Intel does something like this, their sales keep going up. And AMD has to work harder than ever to keep up with Intel's advertising schemes.

The crazy thing about their graphs is that even a CPU with more power/watt could be slower than the existing CPU's...though the graph makes it look like it's insanely faster.

The nice thing here is that it looks like these new processors are not going to be complete crap!

Damnit! I was going to get an X2. 2H06 isn't that far away, though. Might try to stick it out.. hmm.

Intel is no longer going for straight performance.. They're going for performance/watt.. Hell a Pentium M is like 5 times better performance/watt than any P4.

If I could chose between a PM or a P4 EE, I'd get the EE, assuming I wouldn't pay for neither, because I don't have the money for the CPU's in the first place. But it's obvious, you wouldn't get a PM if the P4 EE cost the same unless you're gettin' a laptop.

I would take the P-M over the P-EE or P4-EE for my HTPC.

Major news and this gets 9 posts. No wonder I stopped reading the forums.
There are a lot to discuss here:

How does all this fall into the BTX strategy?
With AMD's Turion getting explainably almost no attention, what should be AMD's goal for 2H 2006?
And of course, now we know what Jobs saw a couple of months ago.

I'm guessing BTX was developed before they had the low power design finalized. Remember they were going to try to scale netburst past 5ghz.

Intersting read.

For desktops it sounds like intel will catch up to the current AMD X2 a year from now. It's up to AMD to use the window wisely.

The handtop / mini-tablet is something I've wanted for ages. ebook, webpad, notepad, etc. with good battery life.

AMD is really going to be hurting in the laptop arena.
