The graphics on this game look to me poor. I am only going on screenshots and youtube. I am a huge fan of the Fallout series and am going to be on this like a cheap suit, I don't want to pretend I won't be (and I still think I'll love the game), but the graphics really do look just awful considering it doesn't have to cater to last gen consoles.

Yep and don't go to the thread in the PC gaming section. They will hang you lol

i think the railroad are crazy. like brotherhood crazy, but with an even sillier purpose.

i found the silver shroud radio, but every time i did, i was in the middle of some quest.

the thing is, fallout really ties everything together; you would have to avoid doing the main quest on purpose, to be able to do side quests. i think that given the story, i followed the quest the way i would have IRL. would not stop and run some random errand for some farmer while i'm in the middle of switching on a nuclear power plant, or something.

i really think this deserves its own thread.

oh and the laser rifle is cool, you can make it into a sniper, or a CQC rifle. but the AR is just better. mod it for armor piercing and it keeps putting bullet after bullet on target, the spread is non-existent, and the recoil is negligible.

The AR and combat rifle are too weak IMO, even the .50 sniper rifle I have is too weak. It seems like energy and radiation weapons are favored heavily.

you mean, plasma? never got my hands on one. i found the gatling laser at the end but never had a chance to use it.

like i said, i find that the laser shoots too randomly, unless you mod it to be a sniper, in which case you can't CQC with it anymore. most fights later on are in close quarters, so the AR worked the best for me out of the .44 legendary revolver (so slow to fire, horrible scope), .50 incendiary legendary sniper (saved me a lot of trouble on a couple occasions, but only long range really, medium or lower i'd rather use the CR because of the RoF and excellent accuracy), sniper laser rifle @ 60 dmg, combat shotgun (i picked up a legendary shotgun, the Fusil Terrible, but the extra recoil makes it almost useless), minigun (only really good for 2-3 boss fights, runs out of ammo instantly), missile launcher (idk why, but i missed a ton of shots with this one) modded to 4 tubes.

the fatman is great, even too strong. i'm gonna be honest, i think grenades are too OP. kellog's boss fight ended with a couple molotovs, and not only are they strong (high initial damage, DoT, and large area of effect, with mobs running into flame like it's nothing), but the game floods you with them.

F4 has the same problems that F3 had; the game designers made it too easy, and steered away from anything which might make the game hard - for example, weight for bullets. Come on, i'm carrying 39 missiles; 600 rounds of 5.56; 1200 rounds of 5mm. a nuke launcher, 6 guns, 260 pounds of steel, and i'm still running.

i liked the glowing sea (was pretty easy with two Rad-X and one RadAway), but imho the whole game should be like that - dangerous. Death should happen often and you, the player, would need to learn many aspects of the game and story before you could beat it.

That's how games were in the 80s.

i played the PC Masterrace™ Version, and only had 1 CTD and 2 bugs in the whole run (18 hours); considering it's a Bethesda RPG, i think they managed to do pretty well.
This ofc aside from the reload bug.

No, not plasma specifically. Just energy weapons in general. Radiation, lasers, zappers etc. they are much more powerful than ballistic weapons to the point that I find ballistic weapons useless. Also the laser rifle I am referring to is not the institute rifle which is awful and has no sound. The laser rifle I have shoots a red beam not blue and is a semi auto gun, 1 pull one shot. It is supremely accurate and it can be used quite easily in cqc situations. I use it almost exclusively and it does 105 energy damage in its current state. I do not use scopes on it, just a reflex sight.

You may be able to get store credit. I've never returned an open game to target.

Isn't that where you've got the minigun and supposed to kill the huge Deathclaw after the raiders?

I just got to concord now and picked up the first fusion cell. I saved right at the power armor and stopped playing. I spent so much time exploring and I have an issue with collecting all sorts of crap I find.

What do you do with the junk stuff? I've only upgraded my pistol grip and barrel so far. I'm enjoying all the exploring and collecting. I still need to get the hang of upgrades and such. Also how do you unlock computer terminals?

I select the words I find but it seems none of them work. Is there a pattern or something?

The junk can be sold or there is a gun that uses it for ammo if you find it.

The computers are just luck I think. At least for me it is. Take a guess and it will tell you how many letters are correct.

I would be surprised if they give him anything, I bet they will be tough on that.

I'd leave the game a bit and play when some more patches have been released.

junk can be broken down into components (more so if you have the scrapper perk), and it's fundamental for mods.
go to your workshop (i used the red rocket truck stop, but i think the home base of the minutemen would have been better), click on any workshop (weapons mod, armor mod, etc..) and press R and then T. this will dump all your junk in there, and you can use it to make mods. all workbenches in the area use the same stash of items, you do not need to separate them between armor / weapons, etc.

computer hacking works like this; you have a few words, adn some gibberish. in the gibberish, there are some parenthesis. if these light up, like words do - they need to be two of the same, and facing properly, such as ( ), or [ ] - then you can click them without using a try, and they give you bonuses, such as "dud removed" (removes 1 word which is not a correct password), or "tries reset", which puts you back to 4 tries.

also, when you click a wrong word, it will tell you "similar = 3" or "similar = 4", or something of the sort; this means " the password has #n letters in common with the word you clicked".
on higher difficulty computers, it's quite easy to find out just by counting. or, you simply try the first 3 words in the list, then click all the parenthesis, and if you get a reset, try again. 7+ tries should be enough for any computer. otherwise, esc and try again.

Is there a quicker way to get to that tempest bluff town? I don't have a lot of weapons and I'm not strong enough to go through the river and grasslands because I got killed by a giant tarantula.

I also tried exploring the underground area in concord but I also got killed there. I need to grab food for the sanctuary too.

Just do random stuff around sanctuary for now. You should level up a bit and that will help.

I think you mean tenpines bluff, and if you do so carefully you should be able to get there without encountering too many enemies. At least none that are terribly difficult (bloatflys, etc). Also if you go towards the NW edge area of the map there's another settlement you can find, so that can help you with the food aspect. This game has the most active edge of the map I've ever encountered, there's stuff (albeit nothing super interesting) right up to the very edge. I got kinda bored the other night and didn't want to commit to a mission so I explored the map edge, and it surprised me that there was stuff out there.

A note on computer hacking, the 'items correct' not only tells you what letters but also if those are in the correct position. IE: Hack (1 right), then Bang (all correct, because of the 'A').

I finally got some decent playtime over the weekend and still feel like I've just barely scratched the surface. GF meanwhile is basically this comic :

I definitely need to get the perk that allows me to better scrap guns as I'm low on screws and had to spend an hour running around looking for desk fans.

Speaking of loot, the one thing that annoys me is that for whatever reason you can't loot those little desk lamps. No idea why we can't but I really want to..

I don't know anybody that takes open games, especially if there's DLC codes involved. I think he's screwed
Did yours come with a DLC code? There is a piece of paper in my case but no codes on it. I didn't buy the DLC but was curious that was in there.

If he really doesn't like it, trade in to best buy. You get even more if you are a gamers club unlocked member.

Oh I haven't grabbed this game yet, I was just speaking generally. It's so common to have some sort of bonus code for buying games new that I just figured there could be one here too.

Oh you get screws from desk fans? Those things are everywhere and I haven't been picking them up, needed screws to upgrade some weapons. Now I know where to find them. lol

What level should I be to go to diamond city? I have a ton of .38 ammo and all crappy guns. I've only got settlers at the sanctuary. Not sure if I'm playing this game right lol.
