Fallout 4 is really coming

So.... I decided to get F4 for my PS4. Now the question is... should I buy it on PSN or on disc? What do you guys think? DAI worked OK on disc, loading times weren't ideal, but manageable. Price is similar, so that's not a deciding factor here.

I ordered mine on disc only because the Microsoft promotion where I got $10 off upfront then $10 within 2 weeks of it coming out. This would be a good game to buy digital

Is just get digital because of a possible day one update and pre-loading if you are going to order it before release.

So I've been playing Fallout 4 for a week. Now that I have new recording equipment, I plan to make a fool of myself and do some video stuff. Don't worry, the plan is to just have fun with it all.

My video plans (I will be showing console and PC versions):
- Do a full video review.
- A 1080P/60 video of Fallout 4 on Utlra settings.
- A First 5 wow Moments (does this sound like something you would watch or too spoilery)?
- How Settlements work.

The pc guys have it so good. I've seen fallout 4 pre orders for like $40 and you can mod the shit out of the game.

I can't wait to see when someone dies a actual graphics mod like the enb or whatever it's called for gta. Fallout 4 will look really good then

Awesome No worries, I'm not asking for any numbers, just wondering what you're using to play the game.

It probably will be typical Bethesda. Runs ok but has some hitching etc until patches. That's my guess.

I originally pre-ordered it on Amazon for $10 off but since I was gonna take that day off for other reasons, I'm just gonna get it on PSN so I can play immediately. I usually don't get my UPS deliveries until later in the day and I obviously want to play first thing.

That's bad how? I will say the engine should get a bit better treatment from bethesda but even so, there's something people like about Fallout. Plus there's a lot of changes to the game, if you bother to read up on some of them. There's a lot more crafting possibilities now for example and they removed skills to streamline the combat.

Not me, I'm getting it next week. There are some games that give me way more value in terms of hours spent playing and enjoying content than most other $60 retail releases. Fallout and other bethesda titles happen to fall into that category. I do wish they would overhaul the engine or create a new one because it shows a lot of age but the world is usually a lot of fun to explore and scavenge.

Well, as for the campaign in Fallout you create your own character really, you start with a clean slate. As you go through the main story there are people you interact with and your decisions will affect them and the world around you. There are lots of places off the beaten path you can find. Old shacks, houses, warehouses, hotels, gas stations etc. You can loot these places for materials and using those materials you can alter and build new weaponry and armor. In these locations you might find NPCs who have side quests they want you to complete and your choices again affect them and the world around you. By the end you have crafted a storyline for your character that paints you as a villan who takes advantage of the weak or a hero of the wasteland who offers assistance to the survivors. I must have put over 800 hours into Fallout 3 through multiple play throughs and I found lots of interesting characters and quests. It's very different from Farcry 4 but the open world aspect is similar. You have more freedom in Fallout to create your character, the story, and the world is much larger. You'll need to scavange for food, find water(some of it is radioactive and you can only have so many rads before you die). There are mutants, factions of survivors fighting for control of territory, raiders. Things like that.

I could not say which system it will be best on. I do know 100% that all the Windows mods for Fallout 4 will be available on the consoles as well. Not day one but they will port them and make them available. My first guess would be that the PS4 may look better on the graphics side which has been the case with a few titles lately. Nothing huge. Though if you like one controller better than another that would be more of a deciding factor to me than anything else. I'll be getting it on PC and using my Xbox One Elite controller.

Let me give you an example of some of the things you could do in Fallout 3 if you have never played it.

In the first town, Nuketown, the leader comes up to greet you and gives you a warning. If you step out of line he will be watching and will punish you. You can insult him, tell him not to worry, or just start fighting him immediately. Once he's dead, he's dead and the townspeople know you did it and they run away from you and treat you like an outcast. Also in this town is an unexploded Nuke that a group of people worship. You are asked if you can disarm it so it won't explode and with proper skills you can do that. If you disarm it a group of people say you killed their god or something like that. If you walk into the bar there's a shady guy who says his benefactor/boss wants to detonate the nuke so he can enjoy the show from his hotel. If you choose this path you can go rig the bomb to explode and meet the man at the hotel and detonate the bomb and watch the explosion and subsequent shockwave. Then if you go back to the town the whole place is blanketed with radiation and you meet a woman from the town who survived but is horribly disfigured. You can call her a freak, apologize, or just attack her(or both).

Fallout is single player so no need to worry about online. It's first person open world so in a sense it's like Farcry but the world exploration is awesome, and the world would be huge to explore.

PS4 would have slightly better graphics, Xbox has Mods with Mods coming to PS4 at a later date.

I don't know if Xbox One will gets mods first still. They're not at all available until next year, right? It sounded like the Xbox One was planned to get it first just because they KNEW it could happen, while they were still trying to figure out the PS4 side. If that were done before the mod tools launched, Sony users might not have to wait.
