I agree. $20? You're going to be waiting quite a while. By the time it hits that price, they'll have re-released it as the GotY version.

Yeah, the last game I bought at release was Bioshock Infinite, and I kinda felt scammed - 18 hours of gameplay I think it was.

I think I can justify buying this at launch for twice or thrice as much. Games like these easily carry 100+ hours of gameplay.

Yeah, Howard said he hadn't seen everything and was 400+ hours in, but I think that's the uber-completionist route of trying everything while probably checking for bugs. I'd bet 30-50 hours to run through it and 100+ to do all quests, as usual.

It reminds me of how 343 said Halo 5's campaign was twice the length of Halo 4's. In reality, Halo 5 is probably not much more than HALF the length of Halo 4, if you're playing both straight. The length in Halo 5's campaign is probably if you don't use any guides and try to find all 117 intel and 13 or so skulls on your own.

I expected as much from Bethesda. Skyrim was bad on console initially too.

Had $15 in BB rewards hit this AM. Went for the preorder and did the $25 off Halo 5 deal also. $65 for both out the door with GCU before BB $10 rewards kickback. Going to just sell Halo 5 on Craigslist to offset the cost as son has digital copy already anyways.

Game looks interesting. Figure if it's buggy it'll get fixed before I get around to playing it anyways.

Also it seems performance is all over the place. Some reviews I've read has said there's just been minor hiccups but others have said full on lockups of the game. It's Bethesda as usual.

So I got it on my PC in the end. It won't run worse than on my PS4 from the looks of it, only better. Waiting for the download to finish - it should be done before the game unlocks.

In a year when games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have redefined what open-world RPGs are capable of, I suspect that a lot of Fallout fans will be forced to question whether the usual Bethesda shtick of providing vast amounts of unpolished content with no emotional investment is still enough. I had a pretty good time, but despite its many strong points, Fallout 4 feels like one of Bethesda's minor works.

I have looked VERY MUCH forward to this game for years. And that is precisely why I won't play it now. I know better. I will wait until Christmas, at least give them a few weeks to fix up some bugs we all know it has.

I plan on playing on the PS4. Graphics are actually pretty bad on this game considering the platforms it is set for, but oh well. The fact vats doesn't pause the game is probably a good thing really.

Is there a lot of fog in the game everywhere or was it just a few locations shown? I hope the draw distance isn't hidden by fog everywhere.

It's a legitimate question, but I think the audience of people who play Fallout but not The Witcher is large enough to where they'll be fine anyway. For example, I never touched the franchise because I never even heard of it until the third game was about to come out, and I had no background on the story.

I think they realize that fact as well, and that people are irritated by the visual quality of the game (legitimately or not). I can't imagine they make it to the next game without a new engine. Of course, I've been thinking that about Call of Duty for about 5 years now, yet we still get mediocre graphics, horrendous hit detection (freaking Aim Assist) and generally underwhelming experiences that started on a modded Source engine. IDK if they ever truly gutted the core of their engine, or if it's just an unrecognizably modified Source by now.

The PS4/XBONE are practically the same. The main difference with the PC is the 60 fps and things like draw distance, shadows, etc. I bought the PS4 version over the PC (I have a i5-4950 and GTX 960). The graphics even on ultra don't look don't look that much better so I rather play on my 60" tv than my 24" monitor.

I got it on XB1 for a few reasons, overall because I just like Xbox and I can still stream it to a PC if I want to. Not one for modding or even DLC, but I did get the season pass from a deal going on.

Oh yeah plus I wanted FO3 for Xbox as a free kicker. I only really played through FO3 once, might feel like taking a different route kicking back on my sofa.

Played it for 2 hours. I'm playing a mixture of high and ultra with medium god rays. Game runs around 40-50FPS. Didn't dip under 30FPS yet, even with big vistas. So I'm pretty happy - runs better than the PS4 version and looks better too. Plus loading times are really good (SSD). My Q9450 is really keeping up I bought it in 2008 :awe: Makes me happy!

Game is pretty fun so far, really feels like Fallout, just refined.

I'm doing the same thing. Selling my PC Pip-boy edition and keeping the PS4 one to play.

Mods will be on the Xbox One and PS4 versions anyway. Me, I just didn't want to drop $200+ on a new video card to play it, especially since I don't have a great setup, in terms of seating, for PC gaming.
