I've always received my key(s) a day or two before launch from GMG when I've pre-ordered new releases - I would be very surprised if you didn't receive a day or two before release.

Good to know.

I haven't pre-ordered a game in years, and this is my first one from GMG.

With all the hours I put in FO3, I never "beat" the main storyline.

Its remarkably quick if you know how to do it.

When exiting Vault 101 rush straight to your dads vault.
Enter simulation, use special code to finish it instantly.
Let dad return to Rivet City on his own. Rest in a bed at Megaton to have him run there faster.
Head to Little Lamplight for GECK.
Use Child At Heart for instant access.
Go to vault, hug and cuddle Mutant for easy grabbing of GECK.
........
Race thru Enclave hideout to President. Speech to convince him to destroy Enclave.
GECK to dad.
.........
Run to Brotherhood.
Do Brotherhood stuff.
Final Assault (hang back and let robot do the work)
Take heavy companion into Jefferson Memorial (probably the Mutant again)
Watch final scene.

If you dont screw around it can probably be done in two or three game days.
And the final battles arent even hard, you just watch the mayhem then murder the final boss quickly with a minigun or gatling laser. With plenty of stims you might not even need heavy armor.

PROTIP: The Broken Steel DLC is an extension to the main quest, and its MUCH harder.

The only thing I'm concerned about other than the potential for a garbage script is the voice acting, I feel like that's going to limit a lot of the options you had in previous games. Bad writing is really obvious when an actor voices it so if its of an consolation hopefully they got their shit together regarding the stories.

Well, yeah, but the point of these games is never beating the main quest for me. I got fairly far into it in Morrowind, never finished. Didn't both much at all in Oblivion, Skyrim, or FO3/NV.

Well Bethesda games have never been particularly impressive when it came to dialog options, so I'm not expecting FO4 to be much of a departure from the norm. They did mention that their voice actors have recorded about 1000 common names so that the PC's name can be spoken in dialog. I think that's a pretty good sign that they're trying to do it right.

I'm pretty excited for this. I love that it's in Boston, should make it really fun to see how accurate it is and discover places I know!

I'll only be impressed when the NPCs call me Numnuts Dickfart.

When you beat Elder Scrolls 3, 4, or 5, you can keep playing and hit up the side quests.

Fallout 3 ends unless you have Broken Steel.
New Vegas just ends. BUT, theres a huge warning before you start the final battle so you can save and/or change your mind.

Heres hoping Travis is on the list.

Dirt and GRID had it, so, I guess I'm in good shape.

Good point... apparently they did manage to produce (or just find) a small handful more which sold out in about a day.

Never miss a chance to toss a barb, eh?

That aside, Limited Edition games (that interested me) have rarely sold out so ridiculously fast. Even my short hesitation to spend such big bucks on a game was enough to miss out. I'll have to either cross my fingers for one in the future, a new manufacturer to produce the current design, or somehow make/order one on my own.

I may even scour the shops on opening day on the off-chance of getting lucky. Then to start making the rest of the jumpsuit.

Which system were you looking to get it on? I have 2 pre-orders in for the PC version, debating cancelling the Amazon one as my BestBuy one doesn't seem to have any issues (I was told sometimes BB has pre-order problems).

Strategy 2.0:

Buy the game day one for console with Best Buy GCU discount ($12 off) and preorder bonus ($10 reward certificate). Beat the vanilla version. Craigslist/Trade-in for ~$35-40.

Wait 12 months. Buy GOTY Edition when it goes on sale.

Best of both worlds.

Wow didn't know you could do both. I might get the XB1 version too.

PC. If you were in Canada I'd work out buying one from you, but mail over the border is a PITA. Thanks though!

So...a couple of days ago I went to a shopping center in jerusalem that's built as mostly movie theaters and supporting shops and restaurants.
Walked by a small shop selling all kinds of movie-themed merchandise and decided to look around.

Amazingly they had a 2 feet high steel statue of a soldier in Power Armor holding a laser pistol.
If I had the cash I would have dragged that thing with me all the way home.

I can just re-route the Amazon order before it ships, but not sure how it would work in this case.

I love FPS but mainly MP FPS.

What does one have to look forward to on Fall out series, especially this one coming out? The game looks incredible, just looking for some deciding factors from anyone to persuade me

It's FPS but more like FPS RPG. If you like fast paced stuff this is not really in line with that.

I first played FO3 because some people recommended it. Took a little getting used to but was awesome overall... I think it's more about being interested in the type of setting and how well done it is.

I was not a fan of FO:NV but that is because there was a lot of cowboy theme to it... not my thing.

Supposedly the Doom team helped design the shooting mechanics, but it's probably still safe to assume that it will not be a twitch shooter. Nonetheless, it should be head and shoulders above Fallout 3 and New Vegas, which unmodded were pretty much unplayable to me. Close to point blank range, empty shotgun in raider's face, reload shotgun, repeat. I recently returned to CounterStrike Global Offensive and was amazed at how much my skills had deteriated from playing only Fallout, even heavily modded for shooter mechanics.

The attraction is in the world exploration and the stories uncovered. You get a depth of immersion simply not available in a multiplayer shooter. You get to meet a lot of interesting characters too. It's like living out a movie, but unlike those horrible scripted QuickTime events and cut scenes it's your movie and you decide how the plot plays out.

Probably because the Fallout games are role playing games where your shooting success is determined by your characters skills rather than your own skill. If you want twitch shooters, play a twitch shooter. Fallout is a role playing game with stats that determine your skill.

I hope Fallout never ever become yet another lame ass twitch shooter.

The creation engine is vastly superior to gamebryo in that regard so I have see no reason for concern.
