I've seen it once when the sky got all dark and everything else was very grainy for some reason. Almost looked like a ton of pollution everywhere.

The radiation storms? First time it happened I thought it was an alien landing event or something lol (Fallout has aliens after all). Freaky as hell.

Wish there was a way to remove the whole confirm-every-last-command thing when scrapping everything around me.

E is comfortable in my left hand, but confirming ENTER each time takes my hand off the mouse.

...but I'm loving the game so much more on my desktop with the big screen and big sound! My lappy is decent enough, but it's no desktop gamer.

No, just a quick flash of white and then everything is normal.
Sky is clear and sunny.

well Kellogg was given some institute tech to prolong his life to continue to be useful as their agent. The institute destroys the brotherhood because they are selfish and try to hog all technology so they would eventually come after the institute and their nuclear reactor. The railroad was spreading false information about synths and the institute. They didn't abduct people and replace them with synths. The people they take are already synths and they do try to obtain the services of people good in science and tech to work with them. They just don't explain the point of synths. At first I figured it was to create a being who was as close to human as possible so they can study the effects of various things on a body that wasn't actually human but reacted like one. Then they could come up with cures and treatments to help people. It really just seems like Bethesda happened here and they never were good at crafting a story that made a lot of sense in the end. Really what it seemed like is the institute was telling everyone to leave them alone and they won't try to bother them because the surface world is dead and they believe the only future is under ground.

I am not sure why you think they do not abduct people as it's said multiple times that they do and they do replace people with synth's but the people they do take are usually used as ginnie pigs to run tests on such as how your son was treated but usually the other people don't end up nearly as well if they survived.

Then they add synth's to various factions to be able to spy / control them for their own uses and if anyone might be offended by that they send people / synth's to kill them.

If you read the terminals of the institutes you will see they view humanity as something to destroy and replace with synth's or at least the majority of while the people in charge are the leaders.

Granted it's not as clear as fallout 3 as how the enclave wanted to essentially kill everyone but the "pure" but it's clear the institute is the main "evil" side of fallout 4 of the four or so main factions while the previous BOS are not as good as they were in fallout 3 as they are even more xenophobic but their main goal is to still limit technology to prevent another mass war like what happened.

I think you can confirm by pressing "E."

When I raze a new settlement, I go around mashing "R" and "E." It's total muscle memory now that I've done it so often.

What's the deal with container respawns? I returned to Wicked Shipping while passing by just to see if I had missed anything, and many of the containers seemed to have respawned... that is, there's no way I left some of these empty my last time through so I'm thinking they must have respawned, and it hasn't been that long in game terms.

I also noticed something in the pip boy tonight. I was futzing around in Sanctuary after a long trip to the southeast to the airliner crash site, scavenged a bunch of stuff and was adding some lights and defenses when I noticed the alert next to Abernathy Farms in the data page. According to the readout they had 0 defense and 0 beds and were not happy farmers. Now, they had beds to start with so that was strange. And I had placed three turrets on the roof so that was also strange. I thought they had been attacked. Jogged down there expecting to find a smoking ruin and everything was normal. Opened the pip boy and the alert was cleared and the right numbers for defense and beds were displayed.

Container and monster respawns are much faster than in any previous Bethesda game. In fact theres a couple mods on The Nexus to reduce the respawn rate.

Ya, I cleared out a building before I got the quest, went back to do the quest, and everything was respawned: enemies and containers, even random crap lying around.

Yeah, things seem to respawn fairly quickly in this game and it surprised me. Not sure what the actual time to respawn is though.

Some other people have mentioned issues like that with the settlements, so most likely just a bug.

A lot of that is misinformation from people who do not know what is really going on. I never found an indication that they take people against their will and experiment on them. They simply think the surface world cannot be saved and they tried establishing some type of government but nobody would work together and it was all fighting.

I don't think there is a right or wrong. Like I said before its all a grey area with no clear "this is the evil group". I just felt the institute was the best option since everyone else seemed too ignorant or too selfish, or too militaristic.

So did you guys side with covenant or with honest dan? I sided with dan and went back to covenant and everyone attacked me. I can use it as a settlment now but it seems like anything i place like food beds etc makes no change to the stats of the settlement and np one has shown up to it yet. Although i dont have a radio sigmal there so that might ne part of that...

I sided with Dan and killed the scientist that was torturing the prisoners. When I went back to Covenant they attacked me. After taking them out I set up a settlement and had people come after setting up a radio beacon. For the me the stats did change after placing beds and defenses.

It might be a bug, not sure if its just a visual bug or deeper, as people have said a similar thing with sanctuary, where when you leave some of the stats rests to 0, or act like they are 0

I have not noticed it, but frankly, outside of sanctuary and maybe 1 other, I have not payed enough attention to them

Yeah that's a shame. First thing that has really bothered me. I want to feel like I am having an impact on the world, not playing an MMO that resets itself as soon as an encounter is over.

what?

they even shoved in a late game mission **EXPLICITLY** to show you that they do that.

Bug for sure, I've had few camps that had 0 so rushed there and everything was fine including defences then the stats went back to normal after.

Respawns happen after 3 days.

I don't know how else they'd support being able to play to infinite levels? I'm OK with it myself.
