Talk to them, point at power armor and the option to have them get in will be there.
Can you then trade with them, take off all the armor, and have them be able to carry tons more stuff? Because if so, Piper just signed up for an infinite lifetime of being in a empty Power Armor frame.

I never take mine off. I have 14 cores and seem to get more all the time and don't run out. I have had to fix my armor multiple times but always wear it.
I actually did run out early on. I thought I had 80 fusion cores. Turned out I had 80 fusion cells - important difference!

Its too bad you cant get a robot like ED-E in NV. That little guy was a badass. I'm going to give Codsworth another shot for the Glowing Sea mission since he shouldnt be affected by radiation. Cait with some decent armor seems like she can hold her own. In the Towers mission she just ran around killing super mutants while I looted.
ED-E was my all-time favorite companion, but Nick Valentine comes close.

After I got the Minutemen General armor, I use this almost all the time, except when I need my Hazmat suit or to pick up a power armor in the waste land. I don't use power armor, but when I find one in wild, I have to pick one up and bring it back to my home base, as trophy. This game has worsen my compulsiveness to pick up junks, like desk fans and aluminum cans.
lol Have you noticed an abandoned tin can and found yourself walking toward it? I have.

It is a good game, but there are some things that are really lacking in it. Once I finished it I wanted to try some more Fallout and have been playing FNV again. The differences are really obvious in where FO4 could be improved and what it's missing.

The amount of story and available quests are much higher in FNV than FO4. FO4 is mostly just exploration and tons of collecting with a little bit of sidequests thrown in and the main storyline. FNV has a lot more questing, but not as many areas to explore. The thing with FO4 is most of the game is just going into random buildings and looting stuff, with no story or quests attached to it. The main storyline is pretty short and there are not many sidequests.

It was a great game, but I think FNV is better. The graphics are not even that much different between FO4 and modded FNV, apart from the lighting, which is much better in FO4.

Yeah I still think FNV is better. I have enjoyed every bit of FO4 I have played but I feel like they could have did so much more, it is rather shallow. For example that robot race track is such a TEASE. I was so bummed out when it ended up just being another fight fest.

Damn 2 big fights in a row. 1st the Swan then some mirelurk queen in a building near Swan. Holy crap that was intense. And i feel like i got nothing useful out of either one.

same. looks like boss fights are only there for the entertainment.
(not that you need any more loot in F4 than you already have ..)

Fallout 4 has some of the best fights. Rockets whooshing left and right, bullets whizzing by, the BOS blazing away with energy weapons, mercenaries lobbing grenades or mininukes, suicide mole rats packed with explosives, etc.

I tend to stay in my silver shroud armor with a special gas mask thing on inside a T 60b suit

I thought the

Charleston really makes my pc grind to a halt several times. Also saw the 2 Arts fighting each other. That was interesting. 1 of them died and when i tried to talk to the other he didnt want to talk.

Ran into this last night. Mine were just blasting each other too. I just waited until they were done then tried to talk to the live one.
The synth won. But he talked like he was surprised to find another person with the same face.
Was really interesting.

In the "odd physics" department, mostly I've noticed dead bodies thrashing about in the water. They can make quite the racket.

Same. That's why I'm level 40, have about 45 fusion cores, 10+ suits of power armor, 5000 wood and steel, 20k+ bottle caps, hundreds of every other resource except fiber optics, 2000+ of some bullets and at least 500 of others, etc.

Think I need to bump up my difficulty though. I'm one-shotting almost everything now. Still haven't really gone into Boston central, been clearing everything around the outskirts. Need to put up some settlements down south.

Loving the game (but then again I like all the Beth open world explore games). Just going to throw some thoughts and questions out and see if anybody is bored enough to reply.

Steel: anybody else having issues keeping enough? I have found i need to raid old super mutant hideouts for can traps, light and you get alot if you hit 2-3 camps (any better way to build steel reserves?)

Settlements: why cant i get over the mid 80's in happiness? I have stores (not the best ones, this the issue?) and plenty of food/water. Have decked um out with chairs/pictures/crap also. I been really working on hangman's alley, got quite the high rise going

What i wish i knew at start of game:
Caps and bullet perks (find more), wish i had grabbed early in game, they where a couple of the last perks i grabbed, and I'm fine, but wow, some extra caps or bullets would have made the early game much more easy.

odd thoughts: Never pick a fight with correctly leveled Children of the Atom at a Lighthouse.. Or when they have the high ground... give me Deathclaws/behomeths anytime.

Rad areas, somebody mentioned Codsworth, there is a big green guy you can use too and with a super sledge you get some damn funny physics with bodies flying around.

Power armour: i never used it till i went down south (rad area) i had like 10-15 sitting at Red Rocket.. all fixed and ready. Had a raider attack.. bet there where some dirty raider pants.. my settlers all jumped in a set and killed um.. NEVER leave fission cores in parked Armour! I have 90 some cores, and see they re spawn (at some spots at least).

ONE change I would make: PLEASE, OH PLEASE patch in so settlements dont need 24/7 babysitting.. I cant quest as I am rescuing or killing off ghoul/radier camps that threaten settlements, its getting old. Up side, i have found if you get Kidnapping or clear out missions, if you finish them, but don't turn them in its a "OFF" switch it seems, I am not getting more.

Companions: can i be a 2 timer? I have Cait maxed, can i take our intrepid reporter out and get her on the hook too?

Yep- the settlement babysitting is getting old and the fact their "happiness " goes down for no reason over time is irritating.

clok1966 -Great idea- don't turn in a kidnapping quest and then maybe the settlements will quit needing help all the time - I mean really- have defense at 138 for 20 person settlement and someone gets kidnapped. HOW?? I am level 37 with 10 in charisma, which is supposed to help settlements with Happiness= NOT really!! Best I have gotten is 85%. I wonder if you give them real beds instead of sleeping bags if that makes any difference?

companions are so worthless in this game. if i give them power armor they'll just sit there and ruin it.

They attract some enemy fire which is useful in big fights. Not a lot of damage, but it does make them a better pack mule.

I'm still going solo, easy to survive on your own without companions if you are careful and use cover and tactics etc , btw I also found the best power suit(full suit) in the game ie X0-1, I still don't need to use it at my current level 42.

Game is still holding my interest since there is always something new to be discovered.

Steel is not a problem. Scrap your weapons and armor. The ridiculous amount of metal and raider shin guards you acquire are nothing but steel.
