Those are quite beefy.

I still think my 760 will handle it, even at 1440p. I honestly haven't seen anything in the videos that would make me think otherwise.

It'll definitely handle it, but it all depends on your desired frame rate and detail settings. No idea what the recommended specs are supposed to give you in terms of that.

Hmm. I only have 6GB RAM. I think I'll try running it on 6, as I don't really want to upgrade at the moment.

8 GB Minimum RAM are we serious?
Shame, coz some people wont be able to upgrade there ram unless they upgrade there Motherboard!

I doubt there are very many, if any, motherboards that support the required CPUs and do not support 8GB of RAM.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to handle High at or very near 60 fps @1440p. Ultra is literally just extra caching, I imagine. That's how most games do it. The gameplay shown off thus far doesn't make me thing that those specs are actually necessary. The Star Wars Battlefront beta runs pretty darn smooth at high for me with the widest FOV. DA:I needs a couple tweaks, but it runs smooth and still looks great.

Haswell i5, 8 GB RAM, GTX 760.

Shoot, I can run Ryse at 1440p with very nearly everything turned on.

Yep - Core2Quad + DDR2 is done. ANY DDR3 board will take a single 8GB stick, let alone a pair.

You probably won't need any more than 8GB. It's the recommended number as well. Just don't try to use anything less.

My own motherboard only takes up to 4GB sticks.

I knew I should've said *almost* every. There are a few exceptions - like some of the very first generations of DDR3 boards still in the C2Q 775 days. (Meaning it's time for an upgrade anyway!)

Ah, wrong again. I'm an i7 user.

Of course, my CPU is a first gen i7. I suspect I will be awfully tempted to do a new build next year when Pascal is finally released.

If you have a Nehalem i7, that means you have at least three RAM slots, so even if you can't take 8GB sticks, the board still supports more than 8GB of RAM.

Blue_Max's statement about any DDR3 bored taking 8GB sticks may be wrong, but mine about them all supporting at least 8GB of RAM was accurate.

Indeed. Mine supports 24 (6x4). That wasn't what I was talking about, however.

We all know that because of their shitty house of cards type engine those recommended specs are bullshit.

No way are they convincing me that its going to really require more power than The Witcher 3 or GTA 5 recommended specs.

I expect the system requirements to be accurate for running the game on whatever the recommended in game settings are. Bethesda's games have always been pretty unoptimized, especially on the CPU front, and this game is releasing only for the new consoles and PC - no 360/PS3 support.

The new consoles have 8GB of RAM, as well as multi core CPUs. I don't think they'll bother optimizing the game to run better on PCs. Straight up port over with it demanding more hardware than the game's tech justifies. We've seen this already play out with other PS4/XBONE ports to PC.

The game being a buggy disaster at launch will also be a safe bet given their track record with PC releases I enjoy the Fallout/Skyrim games, but they are just terrible at launch each and every time.

I'm really hoping that Bethesda does a much better job at launch with bugs, but I enjoy the Fallout games enough that if it takes six+ months for the modding community to make the game playable, I won't regret paying full price. Four hundred hours for $60 is fifteen cents an hour - pretty darned cheap entertainment. I'm also not upgrading my i5-2500K, although I did buy an R9-390. I'm pretty sure my build (i5-2500K, 8 GB RAM, R9 390, Muskin 240 GB & Samsung Evo 512 GB SSDs) is far stouter than the consoles by any metric, and as I'll be playing at the same HD1080p resolution, hopefully I'll be fine even if it's a sloppy port.
