im completely on your side of the line in this rant.

The game should unlock globally at a UTC time.
This local timezone unlocking is absolute garbage.
It sucks even more if your in like Hawaii, and you have friends in NY as they get to play almost half a day earlier then you do while being in the same country.

And i feel this is the most unfair to people who do reviews, streams.
It allows others to post before giving them a head start.
By the time you post a review, your at the bottom of the pack just because you live in a later time zone.

This affects how many people will see your review.

Definitely not a smart move from Bethesda, whoever thought of unlocking locally should seriously be dragged out to the street and beaten silly.

I really did believe that it would have been released (unlocked) globally based on one time zone (UTC? GMT?). So then everyone lucky enough to be in an "earlier" time zone got to play it before others. That's just... wow. In our Internet/Information and instant/live media age there's no way you can just sit down and patiently wait for "your turn" when you can simply open a browser and watch people play it live on Twitch or anywhere else whom just happened to be geographically located in the future just enough to get to play it before you, us filthy people living behind the rest.

Seriously, not sure who decided to go for a "per time zone" unlock, but whoever took that decision might have forgotten that we're in 2015.

Indeed, I "waited this long", it's done now the game is available. It's being unlocked as the planet rotates, but I'm just not lucky enough to live where it counts to play it on November 9th (it's the 9th for me, that's completely fair yeah). And, anyhow, I have all the rights to "whine" for a game I paid for whenever I want to. Your comment was completely useless.

there is a difference between not having something and having bait dangle in front of you, vs having it, yet cant touch it because someone said so, and still having it dangling in front of you.

Its like your boss brought over food, has it displayed, and told everyone below management they cant have any until management has eaten.
The food was best not shown to anyone but management before showing it off to everyone.

ars is a rubbish site for game reviews, and it always has been. They are entitled to their opinion, and I never said otherwise. Their reviews are just rubbish. It's not because I disagree with their review on this single game, it's because ars is an awful site for game reviews, period. I never said they shouldn't do reviews, as you implied. I also hate polygon and destructoid. I don't care, nor do I know what they said about this game.

If a bunch of forum whiners aren't changing my opinion, why would a site I've never trusted?

And at no point were "the others" discussing game reviews part of the argument I posted. It's very singular in its purpose.

Bleh graphics, loading screens to enter major buildings (its 2010!), gameplay has been streamlined a lot. No more skills, only perks. Set SPECIAL to 1,5,7,1,5,8,1. Strength just reduces perk access, it apparently doesn't turn your character into a fat arse that can't lift a twig say. So far average at best.

Fog hiding draw distance (and it's not that far a distance) looks pretty bad in 2015.

It's decrypting the preload files. Mine hasn't downloaded anything so far, says it will be ready in 90 seconds.

Well I waited up for the unlock time at 1am for me, gave the prologue area a go and made my character, extremely painful picking stats with so few stat points, I don't think that was a good change, especially considering it seems easy to miss the SPECIAL books in the waste land, I only picked one up because I was being extremely thorough.

I like the new more colourful graphics, everything seems more rounded and stylish which is nice, I enjoyed the setup for the story and whatnot overall a positive view of the game to start with. My main complaint is that as always the PC gamers are left with about a million things to fix to make it feel nice.

We have frame rate cap issues, we have FOV issues, console wont even open, mouse acceleration issues, locked aspect ratio issues. Getting in game with something like a 60 degree FOV legitimately makes my head hurt, it's like you've got tunnel vision, I can't believe these are STILL issues with these games at launch. So I guess I'll be faffing about with ini settings for an hour when I get home tonight before my first lengthy play through as there's no way I'm playing 80-100 hours with all them problems, I'd go mental.

When you level up, you can spend your level-up point to either increase a SPECIAL stat or spend it on a perk under a SPECIAL stat (if you meet the prerequisite).

Well, I picked a high INT and CHA. Good choices. Lots of perks I like fall under them.
Am liking the new modification system, even though I cant get enough adhesive or screws. Maybe my followers can snatch them up for me......

Dogs are cool. with a high CHA you can just boss them around and theres tons of the little devils running all over the place.

I dont care much for the home building, but I do like that every piece of junk in the game can now be a useful item.

Also, power armor is quite clunky and I dont care much for finding power cells, but the no fall damage is a nice feature.

There's already people working on this, most notably I found this http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=551069501&tscn=1447077828

But haven't had time to test them out yet, i think sorting the mouse accel and FOV are going to be trivial ini entries, but I suspect the frame rate caps and the way the engine works by calculating physics (if anything like skyrim and prior) will likely go screwy if you uncap from 60fps. So I'm not really looking forward to getting that working smoothly.
