So I'm wandering around the Glowing Sea, after discovering a military installation beneath some shack, I engage a couple of radscorpions. One of them digs into the ground and, instead of coming up near me, spawns 200m up in the air and falls down to its death near me.
The wonderous effects of radiation, yes.

^ yeah, I think I used foreav or something else. One of them will set it to the exact value you enter and you can't easily change it back to your actual current value, or rather, I think that character is then locked forever. The other will add that value to your current carry weight, so you can just retype it to 0 and it will restore your actual weight.

I used the latter

Loving the game (but then again I like all the Beth open world explore games). Just going to throw some thoughts and questions out and see if anybody is bored enough to reply.

Steel: anybody else having issues keeping enough? I have found i need to raid old super mutant hideouts for can traps, light and you get alot if you hit 2-3 camps (any better way to build steel reserves?)

Settlements: why cant i get over the mid 80's in happiness? I have stores (not the best ones, this the issue?) and plenty of food/water. Have decked um out with chairs/pictures/crap also. I been really working on hangman's alley, got quite the high rise going

What i wish i knew at start of game:
Caps and bullet perks (find more), wish i had grabbed early in game, they where a couple of the last perks i grabbed, and I'm fine, but wow, some extra caps or bullets would have made the early game much more easy.

odd thoughts: Never pick a fight with correctly leveled Children of the Atom at a Lighthouse.. Or when they have the high ground... give me Deathclaws/behomeths anytime.

Rad areas, somebody mentioned Codsworth, there is a big green guy you can use too and with a super sledge you get some damn funny physics with bodies flying around.

Power armour: i never used it till i went down south (rad area) i had like 10-15 sitting at Red Rocket.. all fixed and ready. Had a raider attack.. bet there where some dirty raider pants.. my settlers all jumped in a set and killed um.. NEVER leave fission cores in parked Armour! I have 90 some cores, and see they re spawn (at some spots at least).

ONE change I would make: PLEASE, OH PLEASE patch in so settlements dont need 24/7 babysitting.. I cant quest as I am rescuing or killing off ghoul/radier camps that threaten settlements, its getting old. Up side, i have found if you get Kidnapping or clear out missions, if you finish them, but don't turn them in its a "OFF" switch it seems, I am not getting more.

Companions: can i be a 2 timer? I have Cait maxed, can i take our intrepid reporter out and get her on the hook too?
Children of atom are easy, lead lined power armor and a rad-x is the answer.

Strong is my favorite companion so far. It is like having the Hulk hang with you. Strong Smash! I found a legendary Super sledge that does 50 percent? more damage to humans, for him. He wreaks havoc on raiders and gunners. But he can kill most mirelurker with one swipe too.

I only respond to settlement attacks if I am not in the middle of something. Otherwise meh. It says you failed, but when I show up later, everything seems fine. Maybe turrets are down or something, no bfd. Every faction will give you busy work so you can grind out leveling. Pick which you enjoy the most and mix them up. I hate escort missions, so I avoid those. I did discover if
you do not rescue the kidnap victim, after accepting the quest, the time will expire, and you will fail.

Steel as mentioned is easy. Get the perk for guns, that takes valuable components when scrapping. Tricked out weapons have the best stuff, so always loot those. and armor of course. And remember, every time you see a armor or gun bench when out and about loot everyone around and break it down at the benches. The junk weighs less to carry so you can get much more in a single outing.

I see no reason why you cannot get another companion ramped up. I went lone wanderer because I do not need the help or the pack mule anymore. I will pick one up long enough to hear their dialogue then cut them loose.

The ways enemies die can be entertaining and funny. I have had them spin in circles before falling, from just the right shot in the arm when charging me. Or ragdolled someone with a grenade so perfectly that they get stuck in something. Hanging be an arm or leg or even their neck. Have had them clip, and killed them through a door, then could open and close the door with them dragged around with their arm stuck through it. Want a challenge? Try knocking over a mannequin then putting it back on its feet. Took me a bit to get the technique.

As to settler happiness, what community is ever completely happy irl? These people have survived horrors, and some of them are messed up from it. There are drug addicts, ghouls, etc. If nothing is in the red, f them. I am their king, they exist to provide me with caps and supplies. In exchange I provide them with a community and the necessary resources to maintain them. Hail to the king baby!

Oh yeah, many times. This issue has been going on a while.

Maybe I'll use console commands to fix it or counteract it.
Yeah, that is a weird glitch.

My worst was having graphics stuck in the you are near death mode. I tried a few things to fix it, but nothing worked. Had to go to a save before it happened. The next worst, was my companion being downed and would not get back up. Could not give stimpak, and fast travel would find us together but him still down.

Scrapper is good to have then? I will have to try to fit in.

You can break down all of the junk along the way into components? That is a good tip, I will have to try doing it.

I've verified that settlements harvest food on their own. I thought I had to manually harvest crops and collect them to make adhesive, but if I'm growing excess Corn at a settlement, more than the local population eats, it builds up in the local workshop inventory. There appears to be some sort of priority order, because if I'm growing Corn and Tatos, I only see Corn in the workshop. Presumably if I were growing so many Tatos that the locals couldn't eat all of them, I'd see Tatos. I'm not sure if it's a priority by food type, or if it's based on what I planted first.

The supply lines you get from Local Leader 1 are odd. All settlements in a supply network share junk. They also share Aid items (most importantly food and water), but I can't get at them directly. For example, if I try and transfer food out of a workshop, it might show only 2 Corn and 6 Tatos. But if I try and plant something, I see all the excess corn in the entire network, 120+. Similarly, if I try and make something at a cooking station, that draws on the entire network, not just local supplies.

My power armor vanished.

I brought it to newly annexed settlement, and got out. I then did a bunch of cleanup and construction. About the time I was done, raiders from a neighboring location attacked. I went out to assist, but when I came back, the armor was gone.

I'm assuming that one of the settlers took it, since it had a fusion core in it. I didn't see them, and I couldn't find the armor anywhere in the settlement afterward. It was just gone.

I had to reload a saved game before I'd traveled to the settlement in order to recover it.

Has anyone else playing on a high refresh rate monitor been getting stuck in place when exiting the terminal? Apparently you have to cap you refresh rate at 60 Hz to avoid this bug. :\

That's not the only reason to cap this game at 60. The physics are designed for 60.

Got a bug with Nick - can't trade with him. Sometimes the "E" doesn't register at all, but even when it does, his dialog never comes up. Damned aggravating.

Got caught with three mirelurk kings, including one legendary. Dayum!

My monitor is 144hz, and I have V-Sync enabled in my NVIDIA control panel (global settings). I had that terminal glitch you're referring to (like many others, Googling it will give you a good bunch of results). There's two or three methods to fix the problem, and the one I've used myself was via NVIDIA Inspector. So in Inspector I set VSync to "Use the 3D application setting", and VSync Tear Control to "Adaptive". Doing that fixed the problem for me, didn't need to temper with Fallout 4 .ini files, didn't need to do anything with my monitor's refresh rate either (and VSync is still activated in my NVCP's global setting for my other games that don't have integrated VSync settings).

Give that a try (but it might not work for you, although it did for me).

I can't get Preston Garvey to follow me anymore. Just never offers any option to do so. Not that I like the guy all that much--I just want whatever perk he offers.

As for Nick--it actually bothers me a bit that you don't see his exposed robot jaw move when he talks. Like...come the fuck on you lazy dev jerks!

Yeah man. I drop the steel after the scrapping, since I have so much. Which reduces the weight even more. Now you are just carrying must haves. For instance, tricked out weapons can breakdown into all sorts of goodies, screws, fiberglass, fiber optics, aluminum.

As to breaking them down in the field, I prefer it over codes/cheats. The designers have left me everything I need, I simply have to use my primate brain to work out how best to do it. When I have finished a couple of play throughs with different builds; I want to do a unarmed, melee specialist, maybe the idiot savant. I will use codes to avoid what by then will be drudgery.

I noticed too, that corn and water stock up. But never tatos precious. They must boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew, because they never have any stocked for my adhesive needs. only takes a minute to harvest them at each settlement I visit.

So many specials and mysteries in the new Dunwich location! I think I'm all done here... but the mystery remains unsolved.

I always remove the fusion core when I leave mine, probably got taken by somebody if you left the core in the armour.

Btw I did read somewhere they can be stolen if you leave the core in.

Maybe one of the settlers took it during the fight and got killed? The armor frame is lost then (you can still loot the pieces off it ofc).
