Fallout 4 lack of official news is strange...

For such a popular franchise I find the lack of news a bit odd. What do you guys think is Bethesda hiding a bombshell of a game, or struggling to come up with something suitably next gen and impressive and worth showing off?

Hopefully, they are ramping up on ditching their awful engine and getting a better one. A Fallout with CryEngine or Frostbite 3. :drool: The real gem in the Fallout series (at least the Bethesda versions) is the immersion and environment. If they could just do that a bit more detailed and beautiful. >_>

Agreed, that would be perfect. Although it might be like why the Brits never manufacture a refrigerator - can't figure out how to make it leak oil, Bethesda couldn't make those engines buggy enough. LOL

I agree that it's odd we haven't heard much, but Bethesda is secretive and this isn't projected to come out until 2015. I was hoping we'd hear otherwise, that this would be a next gen launch title with a Day 1 PC port, but it looks like 2015 is it. Hell, may even be 2016 before the PC version is finished. (And 2017 before it's stable.) But hey, if Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are any indication I'll be playing it for years, so it's worth the wait.

- A new 3D engine and new or updated script engine (with features from NVSE)
- Bethesda handling the open world part and Obsidian handling the story part.

FO3 was fun as a sandbox, FONV had much better writing and side quests. Combine them and you'll have the best RPG since BG2 or the first 80% of KOTOR2.

To my eyes, thats what a lot of games look like nowadays. Unimpressive textures with too much fucking pixel shading and bump mapping.

I am sure a lot of people are excited for ESO, and rightly so if that is the kind of game you like. However, I only play single player, and am very concerned that this is the end of the great single player games from Bethesda. Kind of like Bioware never produced another great, or even decent, singly player game after devoting so many resources to TOR.

I thought Elder Scrolls Online is made by Zenimax Media and not Bethesda Game Studios. Bethesda Softworks is the publishing side and BGS is the developer side.

I completely agree with your evaluation, but I'll be happy with a new Fallout from either. Would be great to have an engine without stuttering and with stability though.

Give that Bethesda Game Studios is owned by Bethesda Softworks which is a publisher, I'm guessing the threat of EA publishing the next Fallout is, um, low.

Yeah! How dare EA not let one company have a monopoly on digital game sales! The nerve of that company... Have you actually tried Origin? It is better than Steam from a program sense. The only thing Steam has is library for sale and sales.

If FO4 only hit one of the two new systems, I'd be extremely tempted to buy that system. However, I don't think I can ever buy a game on a system that I can get on PC ever again. I made this mistake with an Elder Scrolls game - That will be the last time I make that mistake.
