So, it was a good review, and relevant to the thread, and he's a lifer with a long history. If he wants to promote his shit on the Internet (gasp) problem not found.

The guy has 11k posts. I think it's safe to say he is not offering free iPods.

I can't believe I can't get 60fps with two OCed 780s @ 1440p. Mostly High settings with ultra textures and lighting. The reviews said that taa didn't hurt performance that much. Also it is not smooth at all.

I played a bit last night on my rig, I have an i7 3770k and 980 gtx. Was playing at 1440p at full ultra except god rays on high. I don't know what frame rate I was getting but it seemed smooth enough. There was some jerkiness and frame drops but I think it was related to vsync though. As typical for this game engine now, it feels like everything has a ton of input lag - same with skyrim and fallout 3. I guess that is also related to the way they implement vsync or cap frame rates or whatever.

It seems the reason why I am not seeing what I was expecting is there is no SLI support. I wonder if it will in the future. I hope so. It plays pretty good for me at 1080p with the settings I had listed above.

Where's your update, man?

Well, by the time I got done updating I could only play for a little bit. The game autodetected medium settings, with Godrays cranked back to low, and the view distances dialed back pretty severely, but antialiasing and texture filtering set to max along with most other detail sliders. Results... it was kind of choppy. Going to try to dial it in when I play tonight.

I have 0 issues with established members doing this.

Thanks for the support, guys, it means a ton.

Though I'm not as active as I use to be, I lurk all the time and go waaay back with a lot of people here. I recently decided to venture out and make video game videos and share it with friends here--I'm proud of them! So to hear people--who's opinions I respect greatly--say they enjoy them, it feels good.

Be sure you have the GameReady drivers from nvidia and also turn God Rays down to low--it makes very little difference and is a perf hog.

Your still-brief history here is that of a pesky troll for the most part.

Just saying.

By the way--I'm still using my year-old AMD drivers with my 280X, (14.x) and no current issues with ~2 hours play this morning. Just getting back into hometown.

I don't know if it is now passe, but I still cling to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory of GPU driver updating. Game autodetected all ultra for some reason.

Forget CPU off top of my head--but it's one of those xeon v3 1230? or somesuch--the 4550 equivalent. and 16gb.

What settings are you using? I'm also curious about the fps you are getting.

IIRC, FXAA 16x, god lighting low, everything at ultra. and I put all of those distance sliders at 50%; basically what escrow mentioned in the other thread. Oh right, and I am at 1080, so I guess that is important.

I'm not sure of FPS and may never know--I "measure" by freezes and lag and stuff like that. I know it's useful to know these things, but knowing FPS is not something that has ever concerned me. If there is an in-game FPS meter that I can put up on screen, I will check it out. I just play until something noticeably bothers me.

Yay! I can talk about Fallout 4!

So the short and sweet version: It’s fantastic, but there are a few things that bothered me.

I recorded a spoiler-free review video here:
https://youtu.be/rKPjJoAIJgU

I also made a 1080P/60 video of the PC version on Ultra settings:
https://youtu.be/h0CzFpWoZJY

Also, I made a workshop/settlement tutorial because the game does an awful job t explaining…well anything:
https://youtu.be/OEYty7x6BME

Great review! I'll check out your other stuff and subscribe when I actually get a yootoob account.

Thanks!

damn dude that looks silky smooth. I have the same specs except a 7970 and i struggle to hit 60 and in larger areas it just chokes. I'm thinking about upgrading now... maybe amd will release drivers for this though

Hey OP: In response to the bit in your crafting video about the confusion with sharing junk between stations, and what Bethesda told you.

--the tooltip mentions that the workbench and crafting station, within the same settlement, can share storage components. So, what Bethesda told you was right, apparently. There is sharing, but not between settlements. Only within settlements and their craft tables.

290x (1108/1375)
i5 2500k
16gb ram
last stable amd drivers

tessilation at 8x, god rays at low, shadows at medium, everything else max

option 2

everything on max, AA off

both seem to work fine. I don't worry much about aa because i come from a time when AA was a luxury, so i can ignore it.
