I'm massively impressed. This is a total conversion of FO4. It feels like a professionally done game to me.

Every Detail has been changed to reflect the London setting. Art and Architecture are fantastic. Voice acting is top notch, and it's just a metric tonne of content. Everything is different. The pipboy is now a portable computer like a cross between a tablet and a walkman.

This is not settlement/radiant quest based like FO4. It's more like conventional hand crafted questing in FO3/NV.

Just so much new content and all new fallout adventures, with a British twist.

I'm about 20 hours in at level 11 (I'm slow and I took a perk that reduces XP), so some thoughts:

It's not perfect. Initial launch was rough with a lot of crashing, but Patch 1 was out yesterday, and I haven't had a single crash since applying it. The patch fixed a lot of stuff, and I expect they will keep fixing it (unlike Bethesda). But I think it's as playable, if not more playable than a new Bethesda game at this point.

There are still lots of complaints but a lot seem self inflicted from installation mistakes. It's more difficult for Steam User since they need to roll back to an older install before the recent Bethesda "upgrade". Since it's a total conversion, I think a clean install is the way to go. I didn't really have any issue with installation. I'm only on GoG which makes it simpler.

It's much harder than standard FO4. Ammunition is very sparse initially, guns are not quite as powerful by my reckoning. Melee builds might have an easier time, but I don't like melee in Fallout. Even at level 10, I was repeatedly murdered by a pack of radshrews on "Easy" difficulty Yesterday.

yeah ok so this is completely unplayable on a 5600x and RX580 8Gb. i dont know if it's the GPU or what, but it crashes like, always. had 4 crashes in under 10 minutes so i'm gonna call it a day.

Yes.

I started play it without the patch, played maybe the first 12 hours without, but then a patch came out and I applied it and played out past 100 hours with it. It would crash a lot pre-patch. It still crashes after patch but it's more like one random crash ever 2 hours or so.

There is an even bigger patch in the future, but it has no projected date.

I will give this a go this weekend. I learned long ago with Fallout games to save often.

Definitely save often. It still crashes a bit more than normal FO4. Crashes just seem mostly random, and occur most often on area transition. You can play 2 hours without a crash, and I never had a repeated crash anywhere, right after crashing.

I played over 120 hours, finished all three main factions (one "good", two "evil"), but there was still a lot of unexplored areas, side quests undone. There are a lot of rough edges that will keep me from any kind of more complete run until its more polished.

I'd suggest playing a totally clean install, with no mods other than a load accelerator. That is what I did, and it was a more stable experience than many reported. Watch out that you aren't installing FO4 HD textures. They will overwrite many of the new textures.

They are pushing the engine to the limit and load times are more than twice as long as in the base game . I used the same Load Accelerator I use in FO4:

It's minimally invasive, and easy to install (drop two files in your main FO4 directory) without a mod manager, and cuts load times in about half, by increasing FPS to 350 FPS only on load screens (Load times are tied to frame rate in FO4 for some weird reason).

I also removed one mod that is built in, because I prefer the standard weapon selector. You can remove (delete file) "Weapon Wheel" here:

There are still buggy quests, most notorious, is the main quest line for minor faction the Roundels. It requires console intervention. They are minor faction though and it's more optional. You can only finish the game with one of the three main factions.

The best things are the world building (and Voice Acting). The cityscape density is much higher than FO4, hence the load times, and also VRAM usage seems to peak about double FO4 as well.

IMO, it's even bigger change over FO4, than FNV was over FO3.
