I haven't been there yet. Whereabouts is it?

I have the entire southern half of the map... mapped. 75 locations found so far. 30 hours in. Level 20. Only on the second story mission (They Went That-a-Way). I am so in love. It's FO3 for me all over again. Sorry for the sentence fragments. I just love this game so much. I still miss the skill books that gave you one point. They were so fun to find.

It's called Brewers Beer Bootlegging, it's in the giant mountain in the wasteland. It is filled with these: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Cazador

A single hit takes 25% of your life off and the poison depletes AP at -25 per hit and -5 HP/second. They are fucking impossible to kill. They also get stuck on textures so easily and they are unkillable in that state.. which usually wouldn't be a problem but the only reason I'm there is because I'm on a mission with a companion and no matter what you do, the companion will try to fight the enemy that is stuck and will never kill it, and always die or go unconscious.

You get stuck on every goddamn texture on this mountain even if the enemies dont, forcing you to restart. The ONLY good thing about that spot is the sniper rifle you get there.. but it's not fucking worth it. This part of the game alone should have stopped Bethesda from releasing this game, but we all know how that company rolls.

I'm actually working my way in that direction now. I was heading for that crater and visiting every location along the way. Cazadors haven't really ever given me trouble.

Which sniper rifle do you get there? I've been using the Gobi and it is insane. Two shots deathclaws.

I find it hard to believe that cazadors haven't given you any trouble...look at the stats on that enemy on the wiki I just linked. I'm only a level 10 right now so obviously I'm at a disadvantage but they swarm you in packs of 8+ on that mountain. There's no fucking way you have a chance against that. Maybe one-off, but not that many.

The sniper rifle is just a sniper rifle, nothing special about it.

I genuinely want someone to experience this part of the game and tell me if it was buggy. The frame rate drops so low when 5+ of these things swarm you that it's literally unplayable.

I'll head there first thing when I get home in about 3 hours and will post my results. I tend to hang way, way back, crouched, and pick guys off with the Gobi or Ratslayer sniper rifles, which has made quite a bit of the game pretty easy for me.

Anyone else have a melee character? I restarted and decided I'd try melee weapons. Seemingly pretty powerful with some of the high end 2H weapons. Also seems like there's not too many energy weapons in the game, or at least, early on.

In the basement of the bootlegger is the gauss rifle. Using that, equipping ED-E with her Laser Zapper, and Veronica with grenades and a fire axe mows em down pretty well. My energy weapons skill is only about 45(Guns is 90), but it does like 81 dps/280+d[m, and I can get 2 shots per round in VATS, and with the Grim Reaper Sprint perk, I get almost an immediate shot after I exit VATS. Also the Cazador poison seems to take a second bunch of health shortly after getting stung when you get the "You feel a little woozy" message. Taking the Anti-venom aid can prevent that

cool, let me know how it goes.

I found the brewing place slightly north of where I was. It looked pretty open so I crept forward with my Ratslayer out and picked off the cazadors one by one. A couple saw me so I VATS'd them when they got close. I never got stuck in any terrain, but I bet those cazadors would be tough for anyone not sniping.

Interesting, I found something different (in my first post) down there.

Yeah I need better weapons apparently.. or I shouldn't go up there at level 8 with hand guns. I'm at 12 with some decent weapons now, finally got a hunting rifle.

My main doesn't use melee but I've had a bit of fun w\ my companions using melee. I had raul using a super sledge until it apparently broke and disappeared... He was running around 1-hitting enemies lol. Then I got the chainsaw and let Raul go nuts.

I'm playing on PC... and on the bug front, I've had 2-3 CTD's and got stuck in a hallway on some junk once in about 33 hours of gameplay. Some people are trying to exaggerate the bugs and point out gameplay flaws as being bugs as well like being able to steal stuff by dragging it where you can't be seen before "stealing ".

There are still skills books. They just aren't nearly as plentiful this time around. But if you take the Comprehension(I think) perk, you get +4 to the skill the book is for.

Or did you mean the bobbleheads?

No I meant the skill books. There are only four of each now rather than 25. I'd rather there be more books that were worth fewer points each.

Figured I'd just bump this thread.

Starting playing NV last night on the PS3. I played the first on the 360 and liked it enough. I barely got into the game (an hour or so) but I can already tell the game looks a bit better, but more importantly it seems to run much better. Fallout 3 had some issues with dropping framerates and such at times (especially if I tried to turn around too fast), but NV is much smoother. It also seems to be a bit more noob friendly as there's pretty distict tutorials to go through, but Fallout 3 just sort of dumped you out of childhood and let you figure it out. I guess that was more immersive, but I didn't care much for it.

Anyway, I'm excited.

Yeah, with the few patches they've released now, it is pretty smooth sailing.

Haven't played NV in a while now. Been playing Demon's Souls and Mass Effect. But I'm on my third run through the game, been using a straight up melee character since the second play through. Admittedly, I turned it down to easy so it wouldn't take as long (I am an achievement whore).

This does remind me that I need to go back and finish the Dead Money add-on. I only put around 10 minutes into it and I haven't played it since.

I enjoyed FO3 and already own New Vegas (both PS3) but haven't even opened it yet. I've been to hooked on Black Ops and am really half debating if I have the desire anymore.

Now days I need to be able to jump in and play for a bit and jump out, which makes games like this harder to get into.

For the poster 2 up (and anyone else who cares)...

I've been playing Dead Money and am really not liking it. It's not really like the rest of the game. It's trap heavy, the map gets confusing and it feels more like an adventure game since it's fairly
unidirectional (even though you can explore, just not go anywhere until you are ready). Some things are nice about it but the unpleasant definitely beats the pleasant.

Had I known I would never have bought it... I will be happy to get through it.

yea Dead Money is just so so. I'm about halfway through it so far, and it's kinda slow. The whole explosive collar thing drives me mad. The other DLC's coming sound better though.

Black Ops should be called Crack Ops. Too difficult to stop playing, especially now my friends are all online. I keep finding myself wide awake at 2AM saying ''Just. one.. more... game.''

I guess that is what a crack addiction is like. :hmm:

Hopefully I will get round to playing through the fallout series soon! Sounds right up my street...

Really? I'll play a couple games with my friends one night a week and say, "That's enough for seven days".

meh i got bored after getting to play 2 or 3 games in an hour and spending the rest of the time fighting transmisison loss errors and connection lost to host.

Made it rather easy to enjoy other games

Oh for fucks sake, this is the New Vegas thread. The black ops thread is already big enough.

Anyway, I've experienced a number of glitches and one hard freeze after a few hours of play. A few times a dead scorpion has fallen from the sky. It's really weird... I'd just be walking around and see this thing fall from the sky not too far away. When I ran up to the thing it was a small brown scorpion. Quite odd.

Still hasn't taken away from the game too much. I like the way this has started much more than the previous game.
