Infinite Sadness. I hear crackling on bass when using these headphones while playing Freelancer. I have not tried a "burn-in" yet like some people have mentioned. I have only used them for maybe a couple hours so far.

If you have problems with crackling, etc., I'd strongly suspect a bad connection. Return them-Koss has an excellent warranty policy. It may be blasphemy, but to me "burn-in" is essentially snakeoil.

I got a pair of these and they were fine, but for my inept ability to put them on and uncomfortable (to me) fit. I gave them to my son who loves them.

I have the Grado SR-60s, and was set to buy 2 pairs of Grado SR-80s last week (one as gift and one for me) when I started thinking - how much do I use my SR-60s? Answer: Not much. Reason - It's not because they don't sound great, because they do. When I got the SR-60's I realized how crappy my old Senheissers are (both pairs) and I stopped using the Senheissers. Maybe it's because the Senheissers are old. The Grados just aren't very comfortable. I can't wear them for very long without feeling a burn on my ears and/or on top of my head.

I want some headphones that sound great AND are comfortable. Are these KSC35's comfortable????? My first pair of headphones (that deserve to be called headphones) were Koss (many years ago!) and they were over-the-ear and they were really comfortable. I think they had liquid filled cushions. Not much to look at but sounded awesome and felt very nice.

BTW, folks, I got an insert with my S.F. Chronicle this morning from K-Mart and it includes a coupon for 50% off the regular price on any one pair of Koss headphones, good 5/30/03 to 06/07/03. I have no idea what models they carry, so if anyone knows, please post.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I don't think there's anything wrong with the mp3 player b/c all the other headphones sound fine. I'm going to try it on some other players and see how it goes.

Muse, the headphones definitely arent the most comfortable in the world but I can deal with it for the sound. I can see how it would be a problem for people with bigger ears since mine is already a pretty snug fit. It was also hard putting it on at first but I'm sure after a while you get the hang of it. If comfortability is an important factor for you, I wouldn't suggest these. Oh yeah, these aren't pretty either but sound quality is my highest priority.

they're very comfortable for me... botht he PortaPro and the KSC-35. If you've seen and worn those little Sony clip-ons with the flashy silver/blue cover..they're ALOT more comfortable than those.... mainly because the sony is small but weighs more so you really feel the density... meanwhile these are lighter and spread over a larger space. i put them on with 1 hand in a second

Picked these up although the free shipping is gone. Ordered on the 30th got them on the 6th. They sound pretty good, although the bearing on the right side seems to be far looser then the one of the left which makes them a little strange to put on. Not sure if its supposed to be that loose or if i should ask for a replacement. Other then that, they seem to fit nice and sound pretty awesome. I probably won't use them much but they ought to work great for LAN's and hopefully when i start exercising

Edit: The looseness is kind of bothering me now. Basically i can hold it by the ear piece and be able to shake around the plastic that goes over the ear, while on the right side it stays still. In fact, if i set it on the table and lift it up, the ear piece will shift on its own weight while the other side remains still. Anyway to fix this myself or should i just ask for a replacement :-/
