I stole this off of bensbargains.

I just ordered a 4 port fan controller for $11.99 and a few other fans from hardwarecooling Looks like I got a really good deal because shipping is free. Normally shipping is $7.00 but for some reason this time shipping is free.

Their customer service is the best I've experienced so far. In fact, my last order they actually called my house to make sure I got the merchandise and see if everything was okay. I wished call online stores were like this one!!

$12 is by far the cheapest I personally have seen but at $19 shipped there are other options. I almost bought it for my son but he had the fugly comment going so I went back to svc for this product about $23 shipped This is probably normal cost for them so no real deal, but I am always ordering something else at the same time which helps on shipping. I already have this on one of my computers and it works fine - no noise - no nothing - but works, and looks a little better.

I saw this same fan controller for $10.99 here: null

There a silver one as well for the same price: silver

Anyone have good experience with this fan controller? I really don't want to spend too much for it.

bump for a good price .... dont know about the brand though

I just bought a sunbeam one from svc.com and I love it ... and they have a real good price on it right now too, might want to check that one out ... up to 20 watts per channel and 0 - 12 volts ... I love it so far.

becareful with the sunbeam, if you power your fan at like 3 volts (accidentally put the switch at that low voltage). And the fan doesn't spin. you'll definately start a fire.

now you got me worry... care to explain some more on this? Which will catch fire, the fan or the sunbeam? And why?

I'm building my own voltage controller, so I know exactly what he is talking about. No fires, though ; ) It's perfectly fine, just get REALLY hot. It prolly uses a rheostat [not a real IC voltage controller chip like I am, and I extremely doubt a switching one]. Probably, they used some cheap rheostat... maybe 2-5W at most. [They say 20W... I dunno]

Dropping the voltage down to 3v means it is dissapating [12-3] 9v. If you use a single 100mA fan [fan's current goes to that much if the blades don't spin], that means the rheostat has to dissapate .9 W... that's close to it's max rating anyway. Hook up multiple fans, and load it just right... the rheostat will burn out [or the voltage controllers, if they use that].

Best solution is to use a switching voltage controller, but they are a bit expensive to build and I can't tell which models use that from the outside.
