I'm going to put a window in my case soon and was just wondering if I should get an acrylic window with 2 92mm holes or just a normal window? I only have 2 case fans right now and I was wondering if that would be a significant enough improvement?

what kind of chip do you have? Are you overclocking? The two fans on teh side will help your temps a lot but will also add a lot of noise most likely. If you are overclocking and need the cooling then go for it. If not, save your ears.

I was thinking about putting a case fan in a windowed case, as they look cooler than without a case fan if you get something like this or this. I don't know if you'd see a "significant" improvement, but it definatly wouldn't hurt.

I just got a window and it has a 120 fan hole in it. I also have a fanbus so I can turn all my fans down for those times when a little less noise is needed. How big is the window?

I just installed a window with a 120mm fan (pre-cut) installed as an intake with an aluminum-mesh filter and a chrome grill. I'm running an AMD 1600+ XP in a cheapo case, and my idle temps dropped 8C with the new fan.

I bought a Sunon Quiet 120mm fan and it hardly added any noise (of course my Dr. Thermal cpu fan is of the "medium" loud variety anyway).

Plus, this little mod, combined with a cold-cathode light, turned my cheapo case into something relatively impressive for the money (I think I paid about $30 for the window+fan+accessories ... the light kit was another $22).

I ordered everything from 2CoolTek

Even if you don't order from them, they have some nice pics and a few tutorials to give you some ideas.

I'm not overclocking at the moment because my PSU is all out of juice...hehe, I have all the 4-pin connectors used plus 2 splitters(2 hdds cdrom and burner, 2 fans, and then the pretty ol' floppy)...I have a TTGI 300w, anyone recommend a good higher wattage PSU for around $50...although I was looking at a Cheiftec Dragon with 420w PSU for $109 on newegg and was thinking of just getting that cause it's not much money over the 420w itself. The window is 12x12 from www.so-trickcomputers.com(I want to buy from them because they sponsor the local LAN, and I feel to show them appreciation) the kit with the fan holes w/either 120mm or 2-92mm is $19 and without fan holes it's $15. Hope that helps someone. Oh yeah, that Chieftec has a window preinstalled. Should I just buy that since I would have to buy window and PSU anyway? thanks for your help guys

Sounds like a good deal.. my cheiftec was $70 I think from newegg with a 300W PS. I then paid $75 for a 470W TTGI PS from directron and then $35 for a window with fan hole from ZXmods. So close to $180 or so with case,PS.window.. And I'm doing the cutting..

Yeah I definately recommend the Chieftec. I got one a few months ago and love it. That seems like a good deal for the case, PSU, and window. Just add a cold cathode and you'll be set.
