My Cpu Fan keeps turning off 20-1hr into booting my new system. I hear now that Gigabyte GA 965P-S3 has this issue. It shuts off my pc and makes it hard to boot too. Any suggestions or others with thesame issue? About ready to mail this mobo back to newegg. I downloaded some F8 bios, no idea what do with it, didnt even come with readme. flash bios utility perhaps? Its been long time. On start up my bios says 6.0 something if that mattters.

I connected my heatsink fan directly to the power supply. Now it runs full blast all the time.

I didn't like that weird fan activity when it was plugged into the motherboard and couldn't seem to turn it off in the bios.

Ah I would need modulator adapters then. Im curious if changing to legacy here will fix it in bios smart fan settings.

Any chance it's the fan crapping out, not the mobo?

Mine seems to work just fine on F7 bios with the stock Intel cooler/fan using the Auto/Auto settings.

Actually, I have tried several settings and they all seem to do what they supposed to. Auto/Auto is the easiest so I left it there.

here is the solution.

Enter BIOS. Under System health or something similar you can check the temperatures and the fan's rpm. There is an automatic fan control option. Enable it. Then under it you should see something like what regulates the rpm speed. There are three options or so. (Auto, Voltage, PWM... not sure exactly). Try all of them. One of them WILL work. That's how i solved the problem to a customer of mine who returned the board to me.

I just bought a S3 and it's a known problem with the board (at least from the 50+ Newegg reviews I read).

Best solution would be to connect the power to a 4-pin Molex and just forget about it.
