Question Fan runs with computer power supply but not standard bench unit

The bench unit runs fine. Multimeter shows 12 v when it's dialed in and probes connected to outputs. Voltage is set to 12 and the current limiter is all the way turned right. However, connecting the red wire of the fan lead to the red terminal and the black wire of the fan lead to the black terminal gives no joy.

When I jump the green wire and the black wire of a regular computer power supply (pictured on top) and plug the fan in, it spins fine. Any ideas what Im screwing up?

• Are you sure it's red +ve and black -ve (and presumably white tachometer)?
• Are the wires making good contact? Try peeling the sticker off the back of the fan and probing where the wires attach to the hub to be sure that 12V is present there.
