By the end of the week im going to be running a 2400+ with an SK7, but I don't know which fan to get for the heatsink. I want something on the quiet side of things but won't let my temps get too high. Any suggestions?

Currently using -> Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2

his new fan from Thermaltake flows up to 75.7CFM of air. Thankfully, thermaltake has given us control over the fan speed. You can set it to full speed, allow the fan to adjust its speed based on the supplied temperature probe, or use a supplied variable resistor to manually set the speed anywhere from 1300 to 4800 RPM for 20.55 to 75.7 CFM at 17 to 48dBA. The high airlfow capability combined with versatile speed control make this fan perfect for almost any application from super quiet case fan to ultra high performance CPU cooling. Use it on your case or any 80mm CPU cooler and dial in just the right amount of airflow to balance noise and performance.

The thermaltakes do allow for some major CFM, but they are usually a bit louder than they are rated. I would go with the Panaflo or YS Tech as well.

Panaflo or YS Tech, just be careful turning the YS Tech all the way down, it gets some pretty low air flow when turned all the way down!

Ditto

If you did get a Thermaltake SF II, definitely do NOT set it up to draw power from your motherboard... it draws 8.4W, according to TT. :Q

I ended up with the YS-Tech 80mm adjustable from newegg. I complained to them about the shipping rates ($6 shipping for one, $12 for two) and they gave me free shipping CS Rep Caesar is the man.

Thanks for your suggestions guys

Since the Panaflo's don't have an RPM setting, how do most monitor the CPU temps?? BIOS??

What is a typical setting??

Thanks for answering!! (as I got an SK-7 with Panaflo but thought I would check before installing...)

Got my Panaflo's for $4.50 each at www.allcorp.com - They have two pin leads attached

RPM sensors really don't have anything to do with monitoring temperatures. All they do is let you see how fast the fan is turning and check if the fan is running. A lot of people use Motherboard monitor 5 to watch their temperatures in Windows, the bios works well for monitoring temps before you load the OS.
