I bought this case 3-4 years ago and I am still using the default PSU that came with it. I do not put the PSU under any extraordinary excessive load I just do day-to-day office tasks but lately I am noticing reving noises coming from the PSU upon boot for about 5-10 min. Then they go away and the system runs as normal.
I have dusted the case/PSU several times with canned air to push out all dust and stuff from the fan but I still get this revving sound each and everytime the PC is either awoken from a suspended/sleeping status or turned on from being shutdown. Which lasts for 5-10min each time until eventually it goes away...
Is this normal for PSU's now-a-days? to rev up and then rev down?
I never noticed the PSU doing this at any other time until recently having had the same PSU since its build and no other system changes done to the PC.
I do have a replacement PSU I bought when it was a good deal which is a 550W (which is probably way to much for my needs, but was a good deal so I bought it..)
Should I wait until this one dies? is there harm to my system by holding out? or should I replace now?
Before anyone says anything I did open the case and it is indeed the PSU Fan that is reving and not another fan, as mentioned above though it does go away eventually (after 5-10min).
Thoughts?
