Best Buy has the Fang game pad for $19.99 (after $17 instant rebate).

I'm a big Nostromo N52 user, but I always wanted to try something else, so I picked one up. Still trying to get used to it. So far it seems very good. Not quite as easy to use as the N52, With the N52 I don't even have to look at it while I'm playing. I'm going to give the Fang a chance though.

I e-mailed Belkin to see if anything was in the works for maybe a cordless N52 or something brand new. Here was the reply:

No cordless version of the device is in the making. Not sure what thefuture will bring.

Just another reason to give something else a try.

I gotta give this deal a big !! An excellent deal - especially without a rebate!!
I've had mine for about 8 months and love it - even at the $40 I paid.

Available online also - Link

I can't compare it to anything else really (I just picked up a N50 - off the ATHD Amazon deal - but haven't had a chance to even plug it in yet!) but I miss my Fang every time I game with my laptop on the road.

Good one OP!

that looks like an ergonomic nightmare...

You can pick up a belkin nostromo n52 speedpad for $20-30 online or in Gamestop, and it's great. The drivers truly make razer's so called 'award winning' interface a joke, and has the best macro-ing I've seen for any piece of gaming hw.

I like the Nostromo, used it for a LONG time... but the Fang is really, really great. I can print out all the key maps, and re-do it on the fly. I forced myself to use it, now I can't see myself going back. I'll probably pick it up as a hot spare, incase mine dies

I love my N50, but I am dubious that they will ever release Vista drivers for it. I might take a look at this or similar controllers if they have decent support.

Thats the same question I had since I already own the Wolfking Claw because of extremetechs review. Extremetech made it even more difficult when they gave both devices a 9 out of 10. The reviewer help clear it up in the forums here.....

I bought one of these from Amazon a few mo's ago for about the same price, along with the N52. I haven't gotten around to trying the N52 yet (So can't compare directly) but the Fang works well. It does NOT have a D-Pad on it like the N52 but it does have quite a few more buttons along the top you can assign for other things. I used it in Oblivion and it worked rather well until I got busy and couldn't play the game (still trying to find time to get back into it).

Software from Ideazon is pretty frequently updated... for that reason alone I'd stick with them

I've had my Wolfking for almost a year now and swear by it for FPS games like CS and BF2142. What I liked best about it is that it has no additional drivers or software necessary, it's recognized as just another keyboard. Handles alot of abuse too. I would, and have, recommended it highly to friends looking for a game pad.

The thing that gets me on these is they aren't comfort fitted like the n5x's. I live my n52 because it doesn't even feel like its there. No ergonomic design = -points for me

I agree completely, I had terrible carpal tunnel in my left hand and couldn't play shooters anymore until I got my N50. Between that and my optical trackball neither of my wrists ever hurt now.

Years ago, i broke a bone in my left hand, using a keyboard for gaming kills me, so i bought a N50 which i used for years then got a N52, which while i like the extra buttons, just isn't a good, totally worned out 2 buttons
i have thought about getting a fang, but i wonder if it will help my hand like the N5*'s have over the years

You play shooters on a trackball? I can't even imagine...

I don't see it helping. I haven't ever used one so I really don't know, but I just don't see a place to rest your wrist

For those who are n50 owners, the n52 is a worthy upgrade... Besides the extra buttons, it fit's the hand much better (fit's both my big hands, and my girlfriends dainty ones), and is generally better quality.

Honestly, I hadn't used my n52 for a few years. I pulled it out of a box that apparently had a can of coke dumped on it some time ago. After taking it apart to try to clean it out inside, I found that nothing had reached down further than the keys. After putting it back together, it worked as good as ever.

Personally, I don't use it much because I have an oldschool natural elite MS keyboard, and playing cstrike or ut2k4 only needs a few keys and macros are useless for these games anyways. But if you play (MMO)RPG's, there is nearly limitless used for this (auto-equip, auto-buff).

My thoughts exactly. Actually, I did play with the idea for a while, until I decided on an MX518. *shrugs* And that was the end of that.
