Does anyone know if EFA (Electrostatic Fluid Accelarator) type computer case fans actually exist? I have heard that this is a real type of fan that works by ionizing air molecules between an anode and a cathode, using them to propel the surrounding neutral air and then neutralizing said molecules again. But I have never seen them on quiet computing websites or anything like that.
They would be quite good for making silent PCs with as they have no moving parts at all, but on the other hand it might be a bad idea to put them near electrostatic sensitive components due to the way they work.
EDIT: Ok I just found out that they need over 25,000 volts of electricty to create the electrical field necessary, so this is probably why they are not suitible for being powered by an ATX power supply, but still it would be an awesome way to cool a PC, am I right?
