HI
I know this is off topic.
But,,, this is the best area to get some info.
I will be buying a plasma tv in a month or two.
I already have the credenza for it.
The credenza is wood with wood doors that have glass inserts or cloth inserts that I can change out.

There is no ventilation other then long slits in the back of the credenza
I will be installing the cable box/dvr, dvd player and receiver inside the credenza. (Just putting the units on existing shelving inside the credenza)

I need suggestions on fans and controller units to turn the fans off and on as needed.
All help is needed!!!

A couple of 120mm fans, 40 CFM or so, one blowing in and one out, on the back of the credenza and powered bu the PSU in the PC should do fine.

I am not going to put a pc inside or near the credenza.
I will need fans either ac powered or if dc powered and a power supply and thermal sensor to control the fans.

I'd just install a couple of Scythe S-Flex F fans on a Potentiometer.
Temp control over complicates things and also fails.

If the air is moving in the credenza, that should be all that matters.

If each pair of shelves creates a nearly closed off cubicle, then you may want at least a pair of fans (one intake, one exhaust) for each "cubicle". The Scythe 100mm Kaze Jyu is a reasonably quiet, yet smaller, fan.

You need an AC fan setup with at least the ability to be toggled on by some device in your A/V system. Some receivers have a 12v toggle, others might have an A/C plug that is switched on with the unit. A full-time fan system would also work if it has a thermostat to turn it down/off when not needed.

For the fans, you can try ebay. There is a guy there that has sold custom cooling setups for a long time. I have no experience with them, but when I did my own research on prices, he turned out to be reasonable once you add up all these costs for the fans, thermostats, and labor, etc. Try searching "cabinet cooling" on ebay.

Veerry small slippers will solve the fly problem

Quiet fans? I'd vote for a pair of the med or low speed yates powered by a wall wart. I have several that I save from phones and printers and such. If you don't have one try Radio Shack or Walmart for on that has adjustable voltages and wire the fans to that. It can be switched or as Binky said by an appliance in the cabinet. Be sure to soft mount what ever fan you get because a fan attached to the back of a cabinet will resonate, even more if it is a big panel like the back of your cabinet.

Funny that you mention the slippers.
Wife is the fastest person I ever saw whacking a bug with that slipper!!! LOLOLOL
Thanks for the ideas! I have several power units in my shop and will check the voltages on them. One is a huge Yamaha 1/2 amp job that powered a Yamaha keyboard!
I never thought about insulating the fans. I could get some rubber gromets (sp) and or look on line for those quiet type mounting kits.
I will look around for the fans,
Thanks
