if you haven't seen it, you should go out and rent this movie this weekend! anyhow, the Cube is being re-released with special features on 4/15/03! it is available for preorder at many online dvd stores such as DDD.

the sequel, Cube 2 is also due for a release date of 4/15/03 and a trailer is available at DVD Talk. it doesn't look all that great, but then again i didn't think the first one was going to be good either

Okay, I havn't been to the HD forum in a long time, and the last thing I want to see a thread about is this movie! I spent many-a-nights pondering why the heck this movie was ever released. It doesn't make any sense and if you are claustraphobic, then forget it! This entire movie takes place literally in a cube made up of rooms of smaller cubes that rotate and such. Ginda ghetto if you ask me and it wasn't that great idea. I know for a fact that they musn't have made any money on this so where the money to make a sequel from is beyond me. It's just wrong I tell you...

Never heard of it... Fans of what kind of genres would enjoy this? (if it's drama or a chick flick, and it doesn't sound like it, count me out. Action? (in a cube??? beats me) comedy, sci fi, etc. Count me in.

I you liked movies like Dark City or Contact I think you'll like it

btw Cube2 is similar but gorier and makes more and less sense at the same time

i can't say what other movie this was like, but it's definitely not a girly movie. if anything, i'd say it's suspense with a little bit of sci-fi.

I'm a sci-fi fan and I liked this movie a lot! I guess you could call is a psychological thriller, I kind of saw the cube as a representation of the human mind.

Seems like all the people ive met who didnt like this movie were a about as sharp as a marble. The reason i like this movie is the idea that it wasnt built by any one person, it just sorta randomly was put together, at least thats kinda how Worth put it. Its a pretty idea if you sit down and think about it. I also think the character development is great in this movie. I LOVED the ending. Highly recomend this movie. Keep in mind this was a b movie, I think that makes even greater.

I've seen cube 2 and it pales in comparison to the first cube. Very dissapointed. Was not nearly as inovative as the first one and I for one did not care about the characters this time around. Get the first one on dvd, get the 2nd one as rental or wait for it to hit cable tv.

loved this movie; was sometimes a bit over-acted, sometimes the plot made one think of a video game, but the ideas were exciting and I was constantly surprised. Was talking about this movie today: "Cube? It's much better than Sphere."

You know.. as a creepy technological object that kills people.

i loved the second one, but i couldnt stand that black cop guy the whole time, what a prick thats his character, but anyway the second one was also very good, it sorta didnt make sense, but it left the option for a cube 3... cube, cubed?

I think he meant, in describing the psychological thriller/sci fi mix that makes Dark City awesome, that Cube has a little of column A, and a little of column B.
Key theme: claustrophobia; and yes, I would subscribe to a "Cube as human mind" theory.
Like Panic Room; but more S-F, inferior direction, no Forest Whitaker/Jodie Foster/Jared Leto/Dwight Yoakam (!).

But not as good as Dark City.
PS Dark City = Kiefer Sutherland's best role ever. But I have not seen 24. People say he rocks in that.

Are you kidding? You actually liked Panic Room? I'm a big fan of Fincher, but that was a steaming pile of dog crap. At least Cube was entertaining.

I had this movie on my TIVO's wishlist for months.
The day after I finally gave up waiting and ordered the DVD, there it was on TIVO -- shown on channel IFC (Independent Film Channel) around a week ago.

Now that the DVD arrived off to eBay it goes...
