Depends how many managers...

In my league there is 6-8 and he was dropped like a month ago and no one has picked him up.

I honestly dont think hes going to hit above .300 this season.

Sadly having A-Rod is a mindfvck for Jeter...

Hopefully he will come out of the funk but I really doubt it.

yeah we have 8 managers and its getting really hard to keep him because there are so many good players out there that I could use...

with 8 managers he's probably not worth it. There are probably 8 better shortstops in the majors, overall and so far this season.

Although he is sometimes overrated, Jeter is much better than how he has played this year. When all is said and done, he should end the year with close to 100 runs and 100 RBI's batting second in that lineup. He is certainly still a top ten shortstop. Even top players go through prolonged slumps, I would just leave him in and not worry about it. Who are you playing over him?

I don't think you would get fair value trading him away at this point. Like the stock market, you don't want to "sell low".

Guillen is not a better long term bet than Jeter. Rodriguez, Tejada, Renteria, and Garciaparra (when healthy) are the only SS's I would rank clearly ahead of Jeter. Look at their long term track records, it is obvious who the better player is. I would drop Guillen and stick jeter back in there. Have some patience, the season is only a month old!

I would be surprised if, even with his bad start, Jeter ends the season with a lower batting average than Guillen. Look at how slow Tejada started last year for example. Over the course of a season, the variance is smoothed out and the better players will finish with the better stats.

I love having people like you in my leagues . Sad to say but you just have to ride it out. You can't drop him b/c you'll give someone else a top 5 SS in the long run. You can't trade him b/c his value is so low you won't get much for him. Your only solution is to stash him on the bench (if you have enough room) and wait for him to pick it up. And he will play much better this season that he has in April, he has a career average of .314, what makes you think this year would be much different?

hey i havent dropped him yet...the only reason i even consider it is because it is such a small league and i dont have much bench space because we only have 1 DL spot and I have Prior and Sexon on the DL

I don't play fantasy ball, but that has to be the most ignorant comment I've seen today.

Most leagues he is a no-drop. I would say trade him. But I am sure his value/production will come around.

Too bad the season is longer than one month then huh? I personally do not like Jeter but his career average of .314 is much better than Clayton's average of .256 don't you think? It's only early May people, just calm down right now. I'm all for picking up and playing a hot player but be prepared to dump him when he starts getting cold. A career bum does not just all of a sudden hit .350 for a year (unless he goes to Colorado I suppose ). It's the law of averages.

Based on this years statistics alone why don't you post the SS's with better stats than Garciaparra?
