Well I just beat Blood Dragon yesterday, and I must say it was pretty fun. The whole design scheme was pretty enjoyable. I wish it were longer but I wasn't expecting it to be. Unfortunately I don't see much replay value, as with FC3. I also kept wondering why the game is always at night. The FC3 engine shines much better with daytime graphics I thought.

Also, once you get past the first mission you can pretty much save whenever you want - but yeah that frustrated me too.

I'd give it a 7/10. On to find something else to play until Last Light...

I had no idea the game had save issues and it pisses me the hell off that I have to play through the same crap all over again. in fact I dont even have the desire to fire the game back up to do so. these incompetent morons really cant put a proper working save system into a game?

It worked ok for me... It doesn't take that long to play through. Just take a half hour and play it out until you can save.

well when exactly is that? I cleared the area and saw the auto save icon and thought it was a good place to stop.

My son's been playing it. Game has locked up or just crashed several times. May need to see if Nvidia has a driver release for it.

You know.. both times I played through I played for about an hour, but I'm almost positive you CAN save as soon as you get access to the first shop.

Wow this game is entertaining. Just reading the descriptions of the VHS tapes is hilarious.

It has awesome climate, soundtrack, but its mission are quite boring (at least for me).

I finally finished it. Easily worth every penny. Yes, the music is outstanding. Cheese factor 10/10, screw the normal zombie maps coming out in most modern games, 80's is where it's at.

Indeed, easily one of the best soundtracks ever... so much Terminator nostalgia
I looooove these dark synth tunes, 80s ftw

I read on (I think...) IGN that the game's director is looking into a possible sequel.

perhaps they could patch this game first and at least fix the save system.

It's most likely the same save system as Far Cry 3, so I doubt it will change. I bet you that the save system isn't so bad once you finally get into the game, but in the beginning, it's just really restrictive. I still haven't fired the game up since it put me back.

THere are a few more instances where the save system is crap. If you play a bit more stealth like, some of the missions can take 45 minutes which can be annoying. For example, I was about 30 minutes into one when I was urgently called out. Could I save and come back? Hell no. Really dumb design decision and I really hate it that more and more games seems to be doing this. The new Hitman did similar bullshit.

So I have to admit this game wasn't as great as I thought. I think I got overly excited in the sexy 80's hype There's quite a few things I didn't like about it

- Always at night, which really harms the graphical quality of the game.
- Weird "scan lines" which are part of the retro feel but get old fast
- Stupid ass save system
- Weapons are meh. Didn't really get into most of them.
- Missions are the same. Far Cry 3 also suffered from this
- The enemies are boring

But I liked the humor, the blood dragons, and the one liners so it wasn't a total waste of time

6.5/10

Man I just finally got around to playing Blood Dragon and I had a blast. The music and humor were both outstanding and the whole 'super soldier' thing helped remedy some of the more annoying aspects of FC3 (no fall damage and you run/swim hella fast). The story is weak but the primary characters are all amusing and a lot of the dialogue is very period and very funny.

I was a little disappointed at first that it does play almost exactly the same as FC3 (on an island, clear the outposts, kill animals, etc), but once I got back into it I happily cleared every base, did all the missions and collected all the crap. There's something so satisfying about sneaking around with your cyber bow, cyber knife and cyber shuriken cyber slaughtering cyber commandos and then looting their cyberhearts lol.

Didn't have any problems with saves or crashes personally. It doesn't grip you the same way FC3 can/did but it's still a ton of fun imo.

I bought this game in a recent Steam sale. Little did I know how terrible an experience it would be.

First off, it took one hour after the download completed until I could actually get in-game. uPlay had to be installed and it kept trying to update itself. Then it said uPlay was offline, etc.

Once I was in-game, I found the humor style and narrative to be awful. Missions were awful. The control scheme was awful. Repetitive enemies and textures were awful. Save games did not work properly.

Based on reviews, I thought I would like it since I like FPS games, I like the visual style, and of course I am familiar with the 80s.

If I bought this on Origin I would have used their 24-hour refund. Alas, on Steam there is no such option. Even the $5 I paid was too much for this pile of shit.

Because of this terrible experience I have now shitlisted Ubisoft and the Far Cry franchise.

Can't tell if trolling, or just stupid.
