Good luck downloading it from anywhere... the best I could get was 13 KB/s... it's a 508MB download... so yeah, I think I'll wait until everyone and their brother isn't downloading it.

snarfing from FileFront at roughly 100k/sec - close to two hours to DL - anyway, updates to come...

I have a slower card than yours so i'll test the "playability" of the game with it. Just tell me what setting/resolution you want me to test it at?

Downloading it at 90kb/sec here
It takes 5 seconds to register, and it says wait is 85 min for this game, but it's not really that long maybe 15 min, it deducts time quickly

i think all the ai makes the game rather cpu limited, at least on the low settings my system runs it best i can crank the resolution all the way up without looseing much on the minimum framerate.

OOOOOO... VERY nice game. Finally got the demo after almost 4 hours... I beat the demo on easy, but it's very good. I like being able to interact with lots of objects, like the crates and chairs and bottles. That's what I found interesting about the Bink HL2 videos... good to see more games are adding those abilities as well. This is a definate buy when the full game is realased!

WTF, I couldn't get out of the damn boat.

1280x960 here Everything on Medium 2x AA and 4x AF, fps was about 25 - 30.

Also 5.1 Dolby and EAX and Sound on High.

press the USE key to get out of the boat

not sure what the framerate is but after I switched to OpenGL, everything runs smooth on my 9700 Pro

I figured out what the use key was. You can switch to OpenGL where? Edit: Oh, you have to buy the game, figures. The framerate problem is only on the outside, because of such a view and stuff, soon as I'm inside or when I turn away from the draw distance my framerate doubles or goes up by 50% respectively.

For some reason AA doesn't work. Wonder if it's the driver's I'm using. I'm still using the 52.70's because Madden 2004 doesn't work with the 53.03's.

AA works here.

Image Quality Tweaking:

Level 1: Light Performance Drop
Level 2: Moderate Performance Drop
Level 3: Heavy Performance Drop

Texture Quality: Level 1
Texture Filter Quality: Level 2
Particle System: Level 2
Special Effects Quality: Level 3
Environmental Quality: Level 2
Shadow Quality: Level 1
Water Quality: Level 3
Lighting Quality: Level 2

9600 XT owners should be able to function with at least the Level 3s at medium. Might want to invest it all in Environmental Quality though, because stuff changing and popping up is distracting and annoying, and everything on low still looks better than Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Many glitches here. Weapons disappearing and textures flickering is not cool to look at.

I play it at 1280x960; 100Hz; 2x AA; 4x AF; Performance; All Level 3s on medium; Environmental Quality on medium; Shadow Quality on medium; Dolby 5.1; EAX; High Sound Quality.

I get about 30 to 60 fps outdoors, usually around the 40s and 60 to 112 indoors, usually around 80s. Them outdoor levels and the especially the jungle stress the system. In this game, 256MB of VRAM is definitely a must to turn almost everything to the highest, no one listened, but now they will see.

Hey check it out, I'm Golden.

With default settings, my performance was fine on my GF4 Ti - I ran at 1024x768x32 and 2x AA and got performance pretty equivalent to UT2k3.

That said, the game is ass. No originality or soul at all...just another me too shooter.

Oh well... Nice engine Crytek.

Looks like it gets added to the list of "Must Buy". D3D seemed to work sufficiently, but I haven't tried OpenGL to see what the difference might be like.

Works good on my 5900nu with 53.03s drivers and yes the 52.7s are your problem. There are requirment specs out there somewhere that says 53.03s for nvidia and 3.9 I think for ATI.

I didn't get to really play with it much before coming to work but with my 5900nu and 2500xp it auto detects everything to medium except water which it sets to high. I haven't tried it with any AA or bumping everything up yet.

Downloaded it last night a played for a short bit. I have not checked my fps but will tonight. IMHO if you compare this game to lets say Max Payne 2 or Prince of Persia I think it is lacking in the graphics dept. It felt more like I was playing a shinier version of XIII truth be told. I was not overly impressed with it and probably won't pursue the full version when it comes out.

runs pretty bad on my system. 'feels' like 15fps, very choppy and very hard to aim. i tried it at 1280x768 forced 4xAA + 16AF with 'high' settings.
might try toning it down to 1024 and see.

xp2100+ @ 185fsb
msi k7n nforce2
1gb 2700 corsair ddr
built by ati 9700pro (no oc) with cat4.1 (might downgrade)

I couldn't agree less with Insomniak and fw3308. This game has amazing physics and graphics as well as some pretty slick AI. Yes, it's got a few problems but to say it's just another FPS or you're unimpressed is beyond me. Show me another FPS with the graphics, physics, and line of sight this *demo* has. When I saw Unreal for the first time years ago it blew me away. Even my girlfriend (who didn't play games) was in awe of the graphics. That's the way I feel about Far Cry.

To compare it to UT2003, MP2, or PoP isn't right. UT2003 was designed for online multiplay and I could be wrong but to my knowledge there isn't a single level that comes close to the type of detail you see in the Far Cry demo. Plus Far Cry has what appears to be a kicka$$ full single player experience as well as online multiplayer that (unlike UT2003) will include vehicles.

From what I saw of Max Payne 2 it had nice graphics and bullet time is cool but it was pretty much indoor areas which are a lot less stressful on the system requirements. Far Cry's engine can show many baddies on the screen at the same time and things that in reality would be a great distance away.

I've never played Prince of Persia but from what I saw of the screenshots it does not appear to be better than Far Cry in the way of graphics. Not that they're bad - just IMO Far Cry looks better and I sure don't see anything in them that makes me go "Wow".
