far cry is amazing

wow i'm kicking myself for not picking this game up earlier. i always thought with such incredible graphics i could never play on a geforce 3. turns out i was wrong...the optimiztion they did with the game is incredible. 1024x768 low/medium settings the game looks stunning and runs pretty smooth too.

i'll be getting a new video card really soon, i just thought it was really cool it could run on such an outdated pos video card.

The first few levels were very cool, but then the bunker type levels started with doors, aliens and what not, and it became a typical FPS.

Hm... HL2 is one of the few FPS I found entertaining enough and compelling enough to play to the end.

Oh but the rusted out carrier is one of the best parts

Only hard part is when you go out onto the deck, honestly took me about 10 tries (a half hour) to master...


You step outside, crouch, move forward, a black and a white guy are talking, shoot one guy in the head with pistol, the other will duck, pop him in the head QUICKLY. Move forward, lean around steel pillar, take out the guy at the machinegun asap, he may get a few shots off. Back up a few steps, aim up and take the guy topside out, a guy will be coming around your right shortly, execute him.


the rest is just a mopup.

or as soon as you get up on the deck jump off... then swim to the back of the boat shoot down the lifeboat and drive to the checkpoint.

aw man i'm playing on the normal difficulty level and this crap is hard. there is no quick save so if you die you often have to do a whole part over. very frustrating.

kinda funny though, i'm enjoying it more than i did hl2.

IIRC the patch doesn't really add anything at all, just a few minor graphical touches that could be done easily on a 32 bit machine/executable anyway

I just installed it a few days ago and am playing through it again. Good replay value. One of the longest games in recent memory too. That game goes on forever. Only downside is the sucky lack of quicksaves.

I ended on the 'river' I believe. Where you are at the end of one and then some asshats pick you off that you can't see.

I wish I could save at that stage, but instead I have to replay most of that stage just to get to the point I die again.

It's an awesome game though...I loved the part I let that trigen out of his cage and he worked the troops.

I cheated early on and loaded up on weapons/ammo...but I don't think that was really so much help. This is a game where a couple shots with a sniper rifle > running in with a chain gun and body armor.
