I suppose I could go on all day about how much 9 sucks and that 8 was better in many ways, but getting beyond that, it's a usefull program. BTW, it's $20 w/o the upgrade rebate.

Ghost 9 is not Ghost but Drive Image. It requires XP or 2000 Pro.

How does acronis registration work, does it register online based on your windows/hardware installation, so if you change your hardware or reinstall windows, you need to call them each time?
If you're a long time Ghost user, you will not recognize Ghost 9. Ghost 9 is little more than a backup program, with some Windows drive imaging features tossed in. Seriously different (and castrated) from all previous versions and is in fact just a Symantec branded version of PowerQuest Drive Image. On a serious note, what is the big shortfall with 9?

There is no product activation in Acronis.
You don't even need to keep it installed you need it only to create the bootable cd.
I do all features with the boot cd.

BTW, if you have an IBM system, try using their "IBM Rescue and Recovery" application. It's a FREE download.
Very similar to Ghost 9....
