FarCry Demo

Just thought I'd try out the FarCry demo since so many benchmarks use it in tests. I was under the impression it used lots of shaders for water effects and other things and was as a result hard on graphics cards.

I can't see any nice water effects? Any ideas??

I have set graphics settings to very high and my hardware supports SM 3.0 so i can't see why there are no shaders. Did they disable them in the demo or have i got a crippled version it feels like it's running in directx 7..

I had the same problem with my 6600GT in FarCry. After I patched to version 1.3 the graphics looked incredible.

can't patch the demo then meh guess i'll just have to buy it to see lol

no doubt... im actually really mad that they didnt release any of the advanced versions that were on xbox and x360.... my buddy had the xbox 360 game, and it ruled... i just wish i could see it on my pc... i hate controllers../

Target had FC for $9.99 in their clearance bin last week. Patch that baby up and just get the game because even after two years it holds up as well as any shooter....graphics or otherwise. Just finished it myself last week.

The demo had some issues when rendering water, i think they were later fixed but maybe not...However if you buy the regular version of FC and update to v1.33 get ready for a visual treatment, as it is one of the most beautiful games ever created.

Just go out and buy the game. Then you can play through twenty or so levels of this:
