Image quality is pretty similar. Props to FC2 for running twice as fast.

crysis has alot more going on like the stupid plants physics being rendered, while fc2 as you can see in the pic doesnt.

Two different games. Two different game engines. Two different field of views.

Not the same game. No need to compare them. FC2 runs twice as fast probably b/c the amount of things needing to be rendered is 1/2 as much as in Crysis.

Imagine what still could be improved in the Far Cry 2 engine * dunia I think it is called * with it still running fine on high-end hardware. If those options can be disabled, it will also run great on mid-end to low-end hardware, making for a better scaling graphics engine. If I were Ubisoft, I'd be licensing that graphics engine to anyone who wants it ...

2 screenshots don't make a good comparison, especially when they have different lightning and environments. Maxed out, Far Cry 2 isn't even close to Crysis. It does run a lot better though, and it should.

IMO it is quite close to Crysis. And it runs a hell of a lot better.

I have both games and Far Cry 2 is not even close to Crysis, it runs better but it also looks worse, not to mention FC2 has a crappy console-adapted FOV that gave me headaches and made my eyes tired until a user released a hack for it.

Don't start FUD like this.

Neither Far Cry 2 or Crysis look that good at maxed settings. The Crysis screenshot is from the alpha, which you can tell from the old rifle model that is being used. The graphics were toned down since then. Same with the Far Cry 2 screenshot.

IMO Crysis still looks amazing on max settings, especially on the levels with the jungle/waterfalls/river. Seeing the light coming through the trees and making rainbows on the water is just incredible.

Crysis looks better, no contest. And there is tons more going on in Crysis, it's a giant jungle with a huge view distance, there are more trees to render in one scene of Crysis than there is in all of FC2. I have no excuse though why Crysis runs like crap on the ship.

I do like the graphics in FC2, it's very pretty, but it's mostly grass although amazing looking grass that blows in the wind. And I love the way fire propagates in FC2.

read carefully, he is saying the max settings on both games are not as good as these screenshots.

I haven't tried far cry 2 yet. Crysis was quite an experience with its graphics. I should play far cry again but on the later levels, those jumping monkeys get too damn tough.

My pick would be Far Cry 2.

Since that game is SO much better than Crysis. Crysis is OK...But Far Cry 2 imo is GREAT.

That's correct, I feel the graphics are much better in Crysis than in that crappy screenshot. Judging by the screenshot only FC2 graphics are much better but this is simply not true. It runs a lot smoother though and it makes the gameplay a better experience. But as far as the graphics are concerned nothing gets close to Cry engine 2. Some goot additions though and a nice heads up for Crytek, the fire and the explosions in FC2 are awesome. The sun rise /set is also considerably better. Other than that it's thumbs up for Crysis.

Regarding the low FPS on the ship maybe it's rendering the guys shitting themselves...

There is a fucking rift between Crysis level graphics and Far Cry 2. And that's coming from someone who enjoys both games. It's not bias, it's fact. I hate posting this without being able to back it up but every gaming related site is blocked from here. There are screenshots from Crysis realism attempts where they compare real life pictures to in game shots and it's actually hard to tell the difference. Plus the character modeling in these 2 games is night and day.

Have you played the game? Those screenshots were all the hype before release, but they've since toned down the graphical quality. The game doesn't look quite photorealistic anymore, although it does look damn good.

You can't compare Farcry 2 with Crysis at graphics. You can compare them at anything else, but not graphics. Crysis is way up there at this chapter. There are the "other games" and there is Crysis. I haven't still seen a game that has the amazing image quality, the photo realistic jungles, textures, water effects, sun rays and so many great things like Crysis has . Stalker Clear Sky has some interesting graphics/effects, but it's still inferior to Crysis.

Farcry looks great too, but it lacks the image quality that Crysis has. You can compare them better during the nights and see how the scenery becomes, once you take the lighting away from them.

Actually, if you go to crymod and look at teh screenshot contests, the best "photorealistic" screenshots came from the level editor community a year after the game was released.
