It's been a fun ride and a great project, but I decided to let my bike go.

It was only on Craigslist for ~10 hours before it was loaded up on a trailer and sold - I'll miss it, but given the amount of time I've ridden it (maybe 100 miles so far this year), I couldn't really justify holding onto it. I may get another someday, though.

I hate selling cars and bikes.

I always feel like a part of me leaves with it if I have done lots to it.

Did u get the $2k asking price?

Always sad to see something go without a "better" replacement

I had it listed at $2100. He offered me $2000 - I told him that if it's still here on Monday, he could have it for that. He gave me $2100.

He drove about an hour to get here, and arrived after 11pm instead of coming tomorrow because he wanted to make sure he got here before the two other people that were interested. I had spoken with four people within four hours of the ad going up...was wondering if I should've priced it higher! It seemed fair to me, though.

Yeah...if you're not familiar with this bike, here's the story.

Aw man I thought I had posted in this already. It's a sad thread.

I've found that I DEFINITELY got more attached to my bikes than my sports cars. I think a lot of this is that you are really and truly trusting your life with the mechanics of a bike. Most people get an emotional attachment because of this, in my opinion. It's even stronger when you've done as much as work as you had. If you lose a chain, or the motor seizes, or any number of things = you hurt, at best.

Did you care about who bought it? It sounds weird, but I've turned down buyers because I thought they'd treat a bike poorly. When I went to sell my daytona 675 this kid showed up with his Dad's cash, to buy it as a first bike. I told myself it was "for their safety".. IE they're an idiot and I don't want to hear about them killing themselves.. Sadly enough, I at least partially just didn't want to see my beloved bike getting abused by a new owner so I told him to go find a ninja 250 instead.

After spending the first half of my life on motorcycles, about two years ago I decided it was time to hang it up. So far I'm not wanting to buy another one.. I thought the first spring that rolled around would have me searching for an oilhead BMW, but we're now hitting the second spring and I'm ok

I didn't really think about it at the time, but I am glad the guy who bought it did so. It went to a good home, for sure.

That's an easy bike to sell. And yeah, every bike I've sold I kind of wish I still had for one reason or another.

I actually saw my SV on the road a few weeks ago. I really liked that bike.

I need to put my R1150GS up for sale soon...well I've been saying that for a month now and I still can't bring myself to post the ad on craigslist. I need cash so I figure I'll downgrade the bike to something cheap and utilitarian(klr here I come) that I won't feel bad about dropping out in the woods and won't cost me $2400 to fix a blown ABS control unit or $1500 for an exploding final drive. I could buy like, 2 KLRS for that price

I'll miss this bike though, never had a bike that I could ride 600 miles a day comfortably.

Great read Jlee.

I wish I never sold my 86 gsxr750r. Wish I never sold my 74 vespa rally 200.I could have kept those two as my riders till I was 90 and been happy.

Prepping my ZX-11 for sale now.
After a decade of ownership and going on 3 years of not moving, its time for it to find someone who will ride it on a regular basis.
It has never been cleaner...thats for sure. 10 years of grime now gone.
Now just have to sort out some electrical gremlins, curse some stripped screws and tighten up some loose bits.
Finally getting around to things I put off for 10 years because I'd rather ride the bike than fix annoyances.

Would love to just put it back on the road and keep as my long distance tourer (250 miles to the tank...soaks up expansion joint and great wind protection + gobs of power) but I just don't have the time right now to put the miles on this bike to keep it fresh.
Plus I need space in my garage. One bike in there works out perfect. Plenty of space to store stuff and work on the bike.
2 bikes and its a little crowded.
