I wanted to put Jerry's wife into a woodchipper the minute she opened her mouth and started talking.

End of the episode was some superb justice.

Being from the southern U.S., I've learned to ignore basically all accents that are done in movies/TV. The "southern" ones that are always done are ridiculous and sound nothing like anyone around here or the surrounding states.....I figure the same holds true for Minnesota and the Dakotas, and every other region.

BTW....I agree with those who say it moved slowly at the beginning, but you had to know something was coming...(and did it ever).

Well, the movie won all kinds of critical acclaim for its accurate dialog and accents. They spent all kinds of effort on dialog coaches and stuff to get it right. I hope the show's dialog isn't just a caricature of Minnesota Nice like the mom from Bobby's World.

Given the right character Billy Bob can be great. This is the right character for him. Really strong premiere, I didn't have high hopes for the series and now I want to see more.

Agree it was a bit slow at the beginning but once it got going WOW. I loved it and can't wait for next weeks episode. A sort of reimagining that really worked.

Is being "slow at the beginning" a negative?

It shouldn't be, as the lack of action is so very important. If we didn't have the "slow" interactions between Lester and his wife, his brother, and Sam, the action wouldn't nearly be as impactful.

We wouldn't care why he killed his wife, he'd just seem like a psychopath. But it's much more complex than that.

Character development is important.

I actually really enjoyed it. Love the movie and the show had the same style. Last half of the episode made it for me, but even the "slow" first half was entertaining

Haven't watched it yet, but this is almost the first time I've heard of a movie remade into an episodic TV show.

I love how Lorne (Billy Bob's character) just liked to screw with people...

Getting the kid to pee in that woman's gas tank, and then promptly calling the woman to report someone peeing in her gas tank.

And then calling Mickey (Sam's oldest) to tell him that his dad left his entire estate to the little brother.

Priceless!

Was pretty good I'll be watching more even if I saw a few things I thought were a bit passe and ripped off, but expected that a bit.

Better than I expected it to be.

Hope they have more material in the works for the future, they have all ready used a lot of the movie up.

I liked when the guy knifed him in the head and you can tell it's a KBAR just from the handle.

I'm still pondering the guy that seemed to have way too many guns calling a SAW it looked like to me, a piglet, personally first time I'd heard that in my life.

Yes I know what a SAW is, he didn't seem to know that.

Had never heard one called a piglet was my whole point.

Gotcha. I thought it was a reference to it being the modern and smaller version of the SAW M60 used in Vietnam. It was called "The Pig" because of its weight and bulky size...and everyone in the squad usually had to carry a couple hundred rounds to feed the pig.

the m60 had reliability issues like fouling and jamming right?

the m249 and m240 seem to have much more praise although the m249 seems to have some complaints

looks like the m240 has a lot of praise and it is like it is the new m50

Praise for Martin Freeman who plays Lester Nygaard. Despite being in a lot of stuff like the Hobbit and Sherlock he doesn't seem to have much name recognition or get a lot of credit.

Missed episode 1. I have Att Uverse and don't see it on demand. Don't want to do the Hulu Plus thing. Will FX be playing the episodes again?

Damn I didn't know this had Billy Bob in it or I would have watched it.

Wasn't a huge fan of the movie, but it was OK. But Billy Bob almost always gets a watch from me
