No Billy Bob?
No Colin Hanks? Never watched the first season, but I thought it had a stable cast. Looks like True Detective total cast swap type show?
So, I watched the first episode. Pretty good. Based on the posts above, each season is separate from the others, right? I didn't miss anything by not seeing the first season.
I liked it...but NOT crazy about the casting. Some of the actors are on my "I don't watch that show/movie because "insert name" is in it" list...but I'll still watch this show. It's just too well done.
Who is that bad? I'd guess you're going to say Dunst, but thus far its hardly even "her" in the show. I didn't even realize it was her until after a few minutes.
Nah...I'm not a Ted Danson fan...IMO, he fucks up most shows he's been in...since Cheers. Also, I can't stand Burn Notice...probably because it's poorly written and even more poorly cast. IMO, Jeffrey Donovan was terrible for that part...but we'll see how he does with this show. I think Kirsten Dunst's character is gonna bring lots of lulz and "Holy SHIT!" to this season.

What made the first season interesting was the sense of surrealism that they seem to want to capture this season. Personally, I think they're doing a pretty good job of it so far.
Take Dunst's character for example. They paint her as being a complete sociopath. The guy (Rye I think) is bleeding on her front seat and her first impulse is to gingerly move her files out of the way. She drive home with guy still on her hood. Does her makeup and then makes dinner where she has a conversation with hubby about her upcoming self-actualization. I mean, it was nearly perfect.
Stories like this where blood and gore are part of the central theme are only really interesting if you do something unusual with it.
I'm also intrigued by the intro claiming that it's a true story. In the first season, they made repeated reference to what happened 20 (or however many) years ago. So the implication is that this is going to be similarly surreal but based on actual events.
Wait! That was Kirsten Dunst? holy crap, it looked nothing like her.
