Farm might be going away

The Evildepartmentmanagerwhothinksheknowswhathestalkingaboutbutreallyhasnoclue is back at it again. He's now complaining that his processor utilization is at 100%. That's nice, but I never installed anything on his machine. If I didn't know that he wasn't smart enough to install it himself, I would suspect him of doing it.

Bottom line, the Nocturnal Acres are no more, for the time being. The IS and IT directors are out of town right now, but we'll talk about it when they get back. Believe me, I'll do the best sales job I can. I'm not in any trouble, but I have a bad feeling that the entire Farm will be gone, since they won't want to deal with the issue.

I'll keep everyone posted. :|

Will he allow you to take a look at his machine and see what is causing 100% utilization of the CPU? It could be that if the CLI Client was ever put on his machine, it may have not been completely removed. :Q

You might want to slip in his office and take a peak (if you can).

Indy, thats bad news my friend. Not only for us, but for you too - seeing as its such a blow to have all your hard work put to waste, or at least be in doubt.
I would like to offer my services. A lot of the time I argue for a living The way I see it there are 2 main arguments:

(1) The issue of the departmental manager's complaint has to be addressed.

• Why has he complained

• Is his complaint justified etc

(2) Since the above puts the entire idea of running SETI into the shadow, you will also need to argue on behalf of continuing the project.

• Why its a good idea to run SETI

• Why SETI cannot a) harm your machine or b) (assuming its properly hidden) have a detrimental effect on the end-users productivety.

I have a good idea that you may stand on firmer ground if you have a proper document to hand to whoever has the deciding factor, as you will come across far better than the way it sounds the Dept. Manager will do. From what you say it sounds like he will just complain, but without any organisation.

If you would like, I would love to help you prepare this argument. If you are interested, then please PM me.

Organise and have proper arguments set out, and you can easily win.

As Migroo said, you have to be tougher and better prepared than this Dumb@ss so that the IT understands that he's
complitely illiterate. If you could find what's hogging is cpu, and it's not the CLI, that would be one of the best things
for the case. But be sure to cover your back!!

On a more serious note, I am busy getting a working document. I have drawn it up but as I'm sure many of you will know its difficult to sit down and just 'write'. I will definately have something to show around by the weekend.

Suggestions as to useful resources on SETI via PM would be very useful.
