<< yeesh let's not start the "fast only in a straight line albeit questionable quality" domestics vs "excellent handling and reliability/quality" imports fight for the billionth time >>

No fighting, just making an observation. Do you dispute the fact that the movie is ricer car pr0n?

The Fast and the Furious" is just car pr0n...more specifically ricer car pr0n. Although there is that one piece of Detroit steel.

can we get over the this already? Is there anyone that ISNT tired of hearing the domestic vs foreign bullsh$t? There are great cars from both camps.. and im sick of hearing the rice thing also... so some people like stickers and airplane wings on there cars, so what? im sure not everyone loves the retro 50's detroit muscle look, but they arent constantly bashing it... bottom line is, if your bashing someone elses style, your being an immature jerk

They're selling off extra copies now? Those must have sold instantly because when first released ALL FOUR of the Blockbusters I went to each had about eight copies of the disc. You'd think they'd order more for such a popular film. They had probably 20 copies of America's Sweethearts though. Whee!

$0.50 wouldn't be too much to see a movie in which they suggest using a Nissan SR20DE engine to get a 12-second car (and put it in a Honda, nonetheless)! I drive a Sentra SE 2.0, which uses this exact engine, and as great of an engine as it is, I don't think any amount of turboing or modding would ever get it to push a Civic through a quarter-mile in 12 seconds flat!

You know how computer-type people feel when they see computer-related movies and every single detail is wrong and makes no sense? That's how car people feel about this movie! I'm not surprised Blockbuster is able to sell these, though, because so many people think they know so much about cars (just like computers).

No luck in 4 of the Austin Blockbusters. However, along the way, I found some good deals for other movies. Best deal is Traffic for $7.50.

I watched the movie at the Cinema (I'm British - Theatre is where you watch a live production....) to be honest I was looking forwards to the movie as some of the action scenes looked pretty decent in the trailers.

The actual movie was somewhat of a disappointment and as many people have observed had a slighty "covert gay" theme to it. (This is not an attack against gays by the way - the more gays there are - all the more women for me!....... each to their own)

If you like this movie then thats fine by me - we all have our opinions. I enjoyed watching the cars and the action shots but the content was sadly lacking

If you want to watch a real "straight" car movie - you can't go wrong with Mad Max ( I think you called it "The Road Warrior" over here?

Hey - but this is only my opinion

Still a very good price for a "rice" movie though

By the way I drive a Nissan 240SX SE with the "US truck engine" installed
When I was back home at Xmas I saw a local car (UK Nissan 200SX Turbo) advertised for GBP.4995 - this was a 1998 model with only 49,000 miles!!!
Thats US$7000 for the SR20DET 200bhp engined version
Wish they were that cheap over here

When I "grow up" I'm gonna get a Skyline hehe....... with the steering wheel on the right (correct) side of course

yeah, i guess i sorta have to agree with other people's opinions that dragging a jap car isn't really all that fun...actually, dragging isn't fun, at all. I have a '98 civic lx sedan, and it does handle really well in the corners (aftermarket suspension does wonders) - (it's all about going fast in the corners for me, it's fun to see people in their 300hp cars tailing you then suddenly you hit the corners and they can't even keep up --- by no means am i saying i'm good, just better than most idiots here who have no skills except for the fact that they can push down on the accelerator, whoopdi-doo)...my engine's unmodded (as it would be dumb to mod a 106hp car), hell i don't even have an exhaust/intake/etc...i dunno, this is just my opinion, and i'm babbling on as usual

I'm a die hard Jap car fan personally - as far as quality and reliability is concerned for sure

However, you can't beat the sound of a loud screaming V8 engine for "trouser bulge factor" - pure aural sex

Where I live back home (Scotland) we have great twisty roads (My old Corolla AE86 was such fun) and a generally reasonable police force so we can take advantage of the cars that we drive in the relative "safety" of knowing that the only thing you might do is kill yourself rather than get a ticket from a traffic cop who has nothing better to do than give out speeding ticket (late at night that is!)

Round here in Central Florida a Subaru WRX or Skyline would be wasted as there is nowhere you could really use a car like that to it's full potential. If I was living back home I'd have had my Nissan redlined in top gear on the highway by now (well I would have tried my best anyway) - but here there are way too many patrol cars just out collecting revenues
