That's great, so it talks about charity. Now could you provide the quote that discusses minimum wage guaranteed by the federal government?

Try to follow along here; rob said businesses shouldn't be held responsible for paying workers more, I pointed out that that isn't a very Christian like mentality.

Shove your straw man where the sun don't shine.

Add in the fact half those quotes are talking about oppression. As in oppression that cannot be changed just based on work and willpower. No one in the people protesting are oppressed. They made their choices. They could make new ones, take chances and move up in pay and benefits based on said work.

There are so many ways to succeed, with some relying one to lean on another for a few years. However they are there. Those that want it, will work for it. Those that just want more, because they believe the illusion there is a "pile of cash" just sitting somewhere, and no go and earn it, is the primary issue in these stances.

I agree, min wage could use a bump. However not double. Add in most fast food joints are owned by people who just license the
"father" corporation. They don't have a pile of cash to pull from, as people seem to believe.

You can be a Christian and not need the Bible. He never said he fully supports the bible. You are making an assumption. A big one.

Science has not proven (nor can it ever) the existence of 1, multi, or 0 gods and what "religion" (they) are based off of.

So you can easily believe in being a Christian and hardwork. And helping people out that need it and deserve it, and not those that won't even help themselves in their own future.

But hey, keep acting like an ass. It is your right and I fully support it.

You can always pay a person more than they're making. So in the name of religion, you shouldn't hire anyone unless you can make them wealthy? Or is it that you should pay someone a fair wage? And isn't that what this whole discussion is about? What a fair wage for a bottom rung employee is?

As for strawmen, you're the one who brought religion into a political debate. But hey, if you think people should use religion to shape public policy, let's talk abortion.

My statement still stands. He questions the bible accuracy. Not that he fully believes it, or it is fully right like you are trying to imply.

Also a mans beliefs of religion does not have to fully support his beliefs elsewhere. Otherwise everyone, even atheists can be pegged as a hypocrite.

You may ask how so? The minute a true atheist says the name "god" in a phrase like "god damn it" or anything else that grammatically speaking has god as an actual bean, he has recognized verbally the existence of some supernatural being that is a "god". Thus the atheist is now a hypocrite.

Corporate profits have steadily risen over the last few decades, worker productivity has steadily increased over the same time, corporate taxes have also slowly declined, CEO pays has dramatically risen, and all the while worker pay has remained flat, minimum wage has dropped (when adjusted for inflation).

Tell me again, as employers have outsourced american, jobs, how workers are not being oppressed? Oppression comes in many forms.

Bober, I am relying on you to bring Science, Art, and even music into this thread to make sure it is well rounded with superficial information that is by all means meaningless to this discussion.

Religion has NOTHING to do with the discussion -- I'd stop replying to his religious posts if I were you.

They can quit, and work on finding better work.

When oppressed, you cannot choose to just walk away and look for better at a drop of a hat.

Also most "corporate fast food" profits, is from the licensing of their brands and products. Not the actual stores themselves. A lot of them are run by owners on their own. All corporate does with them is audit to make sure they are "up to the standards" the corporate requires for that said store to use their name and products.

Lol, once again your opinion isn't based on facts. Raising the minimum wage does not have the negative impact you think it does.

And exactly who decides what raises are "earned"? Don't you think that's between an employee and their employer? I'm sure you would if it was your job that wasn't paying you what you thought you were worth.

He doesn't fully grasp anything in this discussion from what I have read on similar topics and in here. So he has to find something unrelated to try and throw people off because of this. It is basically a child's argumentative strategy.

My opinions are based on facts -- every time I've gotten a raise, I earned it... for the times I didn't, my performance was terrible. Fact.

In fact, my job pays exactly what I expect for a desktop admin, and McDonalds jobs pay EXACLTY market value for someone ringing registers and making sandwiches all day.

You have a set worth, but in case you forgot, the market (or the going rate for someone doing XYZ) dictates pay.

The unployment rate is around 7% and around 4.5% during good years, the current jobs being created have been part time. Please explain exactly where these people are going to look for a better job?

Oppression doesn't only come in the form of slavery.

Well I can't wait till your job is outsourced and you have to compete with qualified people who are willing to work for less. I'm sure your tune will change.

Good job getting a raise, that was very kind of your employer to offer that, I guess your self worth wasnt recognized by you otherwise you would have asked for a raise sooner.

When you negotiate a raise do you go in with your lowest offer? Have you ever negotiated for anything before?

You sound like a jealous bigot.

I sympathize with those workers, but I'm realistic to know that throwing money into people's pocket won't help either.

Jealous of what? Your hypocrisy?

Giving people a raise (as in they are currently working) is throwing money away? Lol! And I'm sure you told your employer that you didn't need a raise as that money would just be "thrown away".

Do you fucking hear or read the shit you are posting?
