Faster Processor for my Laptop

I have an extra AMD-Turion 64 X2 Mobile technology TL-64. Should I replace the AMD-Athlon 64 X2 QL-60 in my Acer Aspire AS4530-5627 notebook with it? I do not generally run on battery for long periods and am interested in the best possible performance.

If you can pop it in without too much hassle, I'd do it. Why not. Although It's unlikely you'll notice any difference. MAYBE you'd be able to run the high bit-rate 1080p movie on COREAVC, but that'd be the only challenge.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I figured. And, yes, all I have to do is remove a few screws on the bottom to get to everything, including the CPU.

And isn't that moving from 1800MHz HTT to 800MHz HTT?

I don't know what the HT speeds of those two chips are, but I do know that the integrated graphics on AMD platforms depends on the speed of the HT. Less HT link speed, less graphics speed.

To be honest, any AMD X2 in laptops are decent enough CPUs. They make more heat, but perform good enough for almost anything.

I'd get an SSD for it. The HDD is certainly the bottleneck in the system when it comes to overall performance. Get a cheaper 32GB or 64GB SSD and notice how well than X2 can actually multitask.

Thanks for the input.. I should have mentioned that I had that processor already, not that I was considering purchasing it... Alas, it has found a new home altogether in an old S1 machine after all. Thanks again to everyone who posted!
