Faster than 8800gtx sli?

Your 750W PCP&C PSU should be just fine.

They don't have the GTX 285 in SLI but they show it running about 10W higher than the GTX 280 (single cards) and they show the GTX 280 in SLI at about 580W (peak). So GTX 285 in SLI should run about 600W at peak load.

If you really want to spend $1000, pick up a pair of these cards (should be around $750, several available with rebates) and then spend the remaining $250 or so on a Q9550 (2.83GHz, 12MB cache). That should help push any games that right now support quads and will also cover you for the next year or so as more games are released optimized for quads.

Figured Id see a bigger bump (gaming wise) with some new vid cards instead of a new cpu.

Probably so. Are you really struggling with two 8800 GTX cards?

That's the down side of gaming at that high of a resolution I guess.

Struggling? Heck naw, but a few titles like Farcry and Warhead tend to have a bit of trouble at times when maxed out and I figure why not try and eliminate those issues for a while.

KyleGates, I went to your site and I saw a picture of your monitors; that 22" NEC MultiSync FP1355 is freaking sweet. I'm using one right now and it's the sole reason I'm able to play the newest games maxed out or at high settings on my X1900 XT since it can run 1280x960 @ 85Hz, give me a big picture, and not suffer from LCD fuzz. Moving it around is a pain in the butt but at least it makes my biceps bigger.

Thx man, I always LOVED that screen (but yes picking the thing up is hell!). Im actually selling it right now in the FS section, just no where to put it anymore. Still easily one of the best screens Ive used and THE best CRT bar none!
