Read the FAQ dude. This question gets asked about 10 times a day, and no one here wants to go over it again.

Or, if this is a joke....

Bravo!

I prefer NTFS for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. In my opinion, go for NTFS.

You can always read the pros and cons of both formats by going to like microsoft.com

I'm beginning to think that the "NTFS vs. FAT" threads are the reason Anand had to develop the subscription or reduced bandwidth options.

I can think of a couple of reasons why people don't use FAQ's. Humans are gregarious by nature, sometimes they make decisions based on what other people think. FAQ's don't usually include consensus results which people often use to make their decisions. It's like when people ask which motherboard to get. All of the information about the different motherboards is out there, but people want to know about experiences good or bad.

So, to answer the question about which format to use, dam&%$, read the FAQ!

Sorry, if you are using WinXP, why not start with Fat32, try it, then convert to NTFS. That can be done without reformatting. However, if you decide to convert to NTFS, you can't go back to Fat32 without reformatting. Also, if you are upgrading from ME, for example, to XP, if you want to go back to ME, you have to choose Fat32.

All of this is probably in the FAQ.

Ok I`ll make it simple I went from FAT32 to NTFS in WinXP and prefer NTFS.

NTFS does not seem slower to me and I`m happpy with the stability & my gaming with it.

Now can somebody post FAQ on how do use FAQ .

Well i have to disagree about ntfs i used both fat and ntfs. both were problem free for me and very stable with XP. The big question is if you want to ever boot into dos and edit files. Cause if you go with ntfs you can not.

I am under the impression the default security settings are less tight when converting from FAT32 to NTFS.

The short time I ran Win2k I could boot off of the cd and use the recovery console DOS type shell to edit files just fine.
