oh yeah, last year i got charged 90$ to go from ORD to my hotel via taxi, and then 25$ to go from my hotel to ORD via uber

ORD is bad. I found out that there are all kinds of stupid rules like if your destination is in a certain suburb you are charged 2x the fare because the cab company that is allowed to pick you up at the airport isn't allowed to pick people up at your destination. Nothing like government allowed monopolies

I've never tipped for Uber and never plan on it. That's part of the whole reason I use it because that whole awkwardness of paying the driver is completely removed. And because it's convenient as shit. I've only used it like 5 times though.

LOL just checked my rating ... 4.67. Actually checked my trip history and shows I've used it 10 times, 1 of then canceled, and 1 of them was my first one that was free.

Must just be you as I've never had any issue not tipping or tipping in the app and my rating is 4.92

My passenger rating is 4.38. I tip for those that warrant it. I don’t for those who don’t. IE: I know how things work with Uber as I have driven with uber. I tip on short trips and don’t on long trips. I give a 5 Star to every driver unless there is serious problems because that’s far more important than a tip.

Define make a living. Last I checked, $200 per 30 min (even if you only get an 80% cut) is way above standard paygrades. But continue putting your head up your ass oblivious to what skills are and basic supply/demand.

Average uberx driver makes way less than you think per hour and that’s before expenses and depreciation of the car they are driving.

Honestly most uberx drivers are bad at math and are basically mining their car for cash. For most, Uber driving isn’t that profitable unless you are select or black.

And in this day and age you need to at least make $15/hour to survive. Albeit, I don't think burger flippers or any other entry level job position deserves that. It used to be jobs for teenagers. But things have gotten so bad people have to take these shitty service industry jobs to make a fucking living. Meanwhile the Fed taxes your ass to no end, prints money until there are no trees left and spends money like it's endless. Then people complain why the cost of living has increased, vote with their ass! and expect to make $15/hour flipping a Fing burger.

It has never occurred to me to tip an uber driver, nor that there was a rating system. I just looked back in the app, and I've used it a handful of times, it says I have a 5/5 rating. I looked at the receipt for previous trips and I don't even see any field for a tip at all, just a booking fee. meh

Uber should actually penalize the driver or remove her from Uber entirely.

She rated you badly for not giving her a paper money tip - in other words, a tip outside of the uber ecosystem. That should be grounds for immediate removal.

Maybe I'm cheap but who tips taxis anyway? It is a service transaction! I only tip taxi drivers if they do something above and beyond. If they just do their job, they get the Uber fee. If they do something really cool, then they get a tip. But just driving me from A to B will get you a good rating but no tip, sorry.

WTF? I had a stellar 5 star rating, and it was a quick $8 ride and I left a dollar tip. The ride actually cost more than usual but whatever. I know it was 1 star too because it went from a pristine 5.0 to a 4.6.

I have NO idea why. I didn't bother her, I was freshly showered, shaved and looked pretty with my nice shirt and pants.

On the other hand she looked like she was going to eat me and tattooed up with piercings. Definitely the type of woman you'd want to make fun of on a daily basis.

It's bullshit how drivers can just hit 1 star on a whim. Maybe she was mad I didn't give her some D. Fucking cow.
