Cuz it's different. I'll never be as good as Allen Iverson at basketball. But if I quit my job to devote my life to memorizing maps in Unreal Tournament, I could kick Fatal1ty's geeky ass. But, enough of the Fatal1ty bashing. I just want to know if any of you respond to Fatal1ty the same you respond to Air Jordans.

BTW, for those who think NASCAR isn't athletic let me say this; a Local radio personality used to think NASCAR wasn't a sport either and bashed it on his talk show all the time. He was invited to do the Richard Petty driving experience. He came back a changed man! Put on the fire suit, get in that cramped little cockpit in Florida heat, start driving at over 100mph on that track, and you will soon realize you are working your ass off to keep from wrecking. Then consider the pros go twice as fast for much longer than the 5 laps or so you did and you will understand these guys are in shape!

Well cmon, what do you expect from a bunch of armchair racers (which are a dime a dozen in OT) who think their daily commute is comparable to a NASCAR race?

I wouldn't mind buying one since it would go inside a case that isn't used for bling bling.

I'll buy an Abit board only if
1) It's the top of the line model, head and shoulders above all others.
2) I have cash out the wazoo.
I know too many people IRL who have had failures in Abit boards cascade into other parts, myself included. Old friends from Pentium II days to new people I meet at lan parties all have an Abit story. I'm not saying all Abit boards are bad or even that a small percentage will fail. However, if something does fail, I better have the cash to replace it.

As for Fatal1ty the person, I can't fault him for his gameplay or his making money from endorsements. He has a right to make a living however he chooses. I do fault him for endorsing what I believe to be a mediocre quality product, which makes me feel kinda silly. It's like blaming someone who voted differently than you for losing the election. However McDonalds and Hanes have a time proven track record of being the best (profit numero uno) in thier industries. Endorsing them says "I know a winner." Endorsing second tier players or budget brands says, "Please make a collect call with Carrot Top."

As for Micheal Jordan and other sports stars, products are often custom tailored to their precise specifications. Nike makes cast molds of Jordan's feet. Pete Sampras' swing is computer analyzed. Tiger Woods clubs are custom fitted. Computers are custom made for companies with special needs like FedEx or the DFW Airport, not for Fatal1ty. Not yet anyway.

So Hanes underwear is tailored to Michael Jordan's uhh privates? Charles Barkley when he did the rightguard commercial had the deodorant tailored to his underarm sweat? Sometimes products are tailored toward the star/sportperson etc. but more often than not it is simply a name attached to a product to help increase recognition of productname. This Fatality guy is a star in video game land (star is a relative word, and we Americans love to bash/love stars because they are the unconscious gentry of our Eurpoean roots (us white [I European-Americans] that we no longer have) and Abit is using him for brand name recognition among the computer enthusiasts. You chose specific products that are tailored toward the person/star and ignored the billion other proucts that are simply using a famous spokesperson.

Ex. The Icy Hot Patch and Shaq, I don't think that was designed specifically for him.

i dont think many people would buy the motherboard JUST becuase it has his name on it..personally i am looking at it now but only becuase it has the features that a hardcore gamer wants and doesnt have the ones we never use...so i wouldnt buy it for the name on it... but i will buy it for the performance and features it throws at the market

just my 2 cents

As pathetic as the title sounds, I wouldnt mind having a job playing games everyday

Who cares if people think you are a geek. If you are in IT they think that anyways, might as well do something fun.

I spoke with him about 2 years ago about a business deal...and talking with him youd think he was michael jordan....incredibly conceited personality, and really into trying to squeeze money out of you...lets say this business deal did not end well...but I ended up with my own company lol

JUST because it has that jackasses name on it. I buy a board based on proven performance, not because it has some pale 90lb nerd on it

He's not a 90lbs nerd, which is probably why this image sells so well.

WRONG! All of you are WRONG for thinking people (Atleast ones that have SOME sort of a budget) buy these because of the name. I bought my A8n-SLI Fatal1ty because of the rich features including but not limited to the uguru panel, excellent software, top of the line audio and an overall quality board.

I didn't even know that motherboard was named after that guy.

Don't be mad about it because this dude makes a good living playing video games. I would love to do that, and I bet anyone would want to.

If it was a good motherboard I would buy it.

Who cares ok? I don't care if it has a jacked up name.

I know the new A64 board has VDimm of 3.55. While it's good and many people have jumped on, I'd still go for the DFI LP NF4 Ultra-D. Sorry Abit. I loved your KT7-RAID, but..... that's a thing of the past.
