Phnom Penh - A Cambodian father and mechanic learned the hard way not to inflate children when he inserted an air hose designed to fill car tires into his 5-year-old son's anus and blew him up, local media reported on Thursday.

The Khmer-language Rasmei Kampuchea daily reported Try Sienghym was "playing" with his son Sok Sambo when the incident took place.

The paper said the child's stomach became distended and his concerned mother rushed him to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

"The father very much regrets playing like this now," the paper quoted a family member as saying.




Police were not expected to take action against the father, blaming the incident on pure stupidity, against which there is currently no law. - Sapa-dpa

In the machine shop in the physics department where I did my undergraduate, the professor who taught the machining course (best college course EVER) had a kid die from something like this...

There are air hoses hanging from the ceiling so that you can blast off the little metal shavings that tend to accumulate when you work on a mill/lathe/etc. It's a hell of a lot easier to blow them onto the floor and use a broom than to sit there with a brush and try to get into every nook and cranny. It's convenient! One guy goaded another into putting one of these air hoses up his butt and pulling the trigger. Well, he died from it.

Now the air hoses in that room are designed with a second release hole further down the hose to prevent bizarre accidents like that...

Still, who thinks it's a good idea to blow air into another person's anus?

I hate to say it, but if that can be confirmed then it would be true Darwin Award material. I'd hate to think of the reaction the family had when it was explained exactly what he did.

I've seen several people get fucked up over the years when some moron stuck an airgun up to their skin and pulled the trigger. (similar to what eeezee is talking about) The old style airguns didn't have pressure relief, so if the system had 100 psi, it delivered 100 psi to the nozzle, and into the skin. Air embolisms are no joke...unless it's someone else. None of them died, but they were hospitalized for quite a while.
