It was simply a game where unbalanced shit happened.
The party tank got the grapple skill and some other weird skill that I forget. Basically no monster could get past him and basically he was the perfect tank and any monsters from the front could not do anything at all because their attacks would be ignored by the dual shield wielding tank.
However, at the same time the Gm got some lucky as all hell hits on our squishies which took us down to an insanely low life pool. When we got to the end, we realized the boss who could not regenerate could be killed by the spirit wolf slowly which does 2 damage a turn ignoring armor, while we stayed back and watched.
So much rage on both sides.
Axis & Allies
The one and only time I played this game, I was Japan, and I was completely massacred during the raid on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. fleet survived...
*sigh*
Ticket to Ride & Carcassonne are fun. My wife has really gotten into Dominion too. Although that's more of a card game than "board". The Euro style strategy games are a breath of fresh air from the old stagnant Milton Bradley stuff that I grew up with.
Descent: Journey in the Dark.
Followed by:
Hero Quest.
Never played advanced hero quest.
I'm trying to debate what board game to get for x-mas for someone that just turned 30. She likes games like Clue and Monopoly from back in the day but, was wondering if there's something that's newer and fun. I was thinking of getting Candyland but, I don't remember it too much.
What was your favorite?
Dark Tower
Haha. My uncle has a copy of the game that he hoards obsessively due to its collector's value.
you are my hero! wanna come over and play?!?!?!? I had no one to play that game with when i was a kid. still have my copy + another one and advanced hero quest. Oldest son is almost to the age to play... soooo close.
I played both of these for the first time within the past month. They were both fun, and I'd recommend either (it helps that I won both my first time playing them). I just think it's odd that you managed to name the two board games I've played recently given that I never play board games...Ticket to Ride & Carcassonne are fun.
