I was a die hard cat person... thought dogs were WAY too needy and thought I would never, ever want to own another one.

But after working in the vets office... whew.... I have come to have a deep respect and appreciation for the animals. They are gorgeous, smart... and to be honest... besides being a parent, I cannot describe the love and loyalty they show to their parents. There is a look of love, trust and loyalty in their eyes that really moves me.

yep.

i dont really have a favorite breed. i like labs, rottweillers(sp?), mastiffs. rhodesian ridgebacks look cool too.

I grew up with Boxers. That is my final answer. But, I have always thought SharPeis are cool.

Right now, any dog that does not like catnip is my answer. Dog <> catnip. Our mutt just ate a bag full of this wonderful "cat toy". Woolite Oxy Clean for pets is the best product I found for getting blood and other post-GI tract material out of mustard carpet. It handles the human result from cleaning that up too. It also costs almost $400 for the Saturday midnight run to the emergency pet clinic.

My favorite breed is a mutt. Seriously. I have a Black Lab/Rottweiler/BorderCollie + whatever else mix, and I couldn't be happier. One other dog I lived with was a greyhound/mastiff cross who was by far the most intelligent animal I've ever dealt with (most human animals included).

Mutts FTW!

Forced to pick and actual breed I'd go with German Shepherd I guess.

I know, OT... This is about the "control" part of your personality. Most folks that like dogs and hate cats tend to Control freaks (or are very allergic.) You are the reverse and dislike clingy people. You do not do well with folks that are very co-dependent (You - "So what do you want to do?" Co-D - "What ever you want to do" You - GRRRR).

I prefer shepherd crosses as purebreds tend to have medical problems (thank you AKA for overbreeding). Shepherd-chow and shepherd-husky mixes are good. Shepherd-lab crosses can be good unless the dog ends up with the body of a shepherd and the brain of a lab.

All dogs under thirty pounds or so are owl food in my book.

I had a pug once... the coolest dog ever. There was a bar in town here that used to let me take him inside. He would run around and find the hottest single woman in the bar then jump in her lap. All I had to do was wait for his collar to stop jingling.
